concept: Moorgoon Leviathan
The moorgoon leviathan generates a strong magnetic field and passes a bio-electric current through the seawater that sifts through its body, propelling it like a jet. Males are tuned to the planet's magnetic poles to travel in a general east-west direction, females in the opposite direction, usually. The inertia of their mass makes quick braking virtually impossible. To avoid the collision of their massive bodies, males swim much deeper than the females. Males and females spend most of their lives completely seperately. To reproduce, females must call to the males psionically. Sonic communication, typical of earth's whales, is ineffective given the depths that usually seperate the sexes. Female moorgoon leviathans come to rest and inflate the tough but flexible sac around their brains with a reserve of oxygen, activating the apporpriate neurotransmitters. The increased oxygen amplifies their psionic abilities, sending their primal mating message into the inky depths below. A male recieves the message of the female and easily locates the eggs, spawned much in the way salmon do. The orca pictured above shows the relative scale of the female moorgoon leviathan.

Vouganths are a species of predatory megalocrustaceans that
inhabit the shallow bays of S/2560 A3.
They are primarily bottom feeders that claw and cruise their way
along the muddy bottoms of the shallows with their massive front
limbs; actual swimming is too inefficient with the heavy
exoskeletons that the valouganths bear.
Valouganths have the smallest brain to body mass ratio known on
the planet; despite being intimidating in size and proportional
speed, they rarely pose a threat to human colonizers unless
irritated into a blind rage.
Angry valouganths have been known to use their arms--which are
plated with a soft, flexible chitin that allows them to bend--to
launch themselves above the surface of the shallows and onto
passing cargo ships.

Living in the deep depths of the ocean these Mamathons prey on large squids. Their shells are used both as a defense measure against contemporary preditors, as well as a weapon for ramming preys and preditors. Their lights have an internal glowing to illuminate the dark regions of the ocean.

The orange leviathan skims the bottom of the seas like a ghost in the water, silent, in the darkness. The newly built testing facility for deep sea mechanics is in a position just under a part of the animal's route. It follows slight currents created by heat and the magnetic field of the Earth. Throughout the millions of years the animals have bred they have evolved so that they do not need to come to the surface for air, or need a mouth for feeding. Instead they have grown long tentacles under their stomachs that brush the sea-bed and pick up all the organisms that grow and live within the currents.

concept: Gromlek
On the island of Ugljan there is a tale of Gromlek, the terrible sea monster which eats little children. He comes when kids swim far from shore, and don't listen to their parents. Sometimes, he can also appear in a bath-tub. But everyone who is older then 10 years knows that it's just a made up story to scare little children... Or is it?

concept:
Written in the old books is the coming of the beast that serves the devil. It shall arise from the bottomless pit to consume what is left of man on earth in the end of times. No man can stand before it. From the book of Job: His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth....His heart is as firms as stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone....He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble....He maketh the deep to boil like a pot....he is a king over all the children of pride." It is also foretold that before the end, the heavens shall part and the beast slain by the One who sits at the right hand of God.

The Deep Sea Leviathan was recently discovered during a research about life in the Mariana Trench. A single exemplar was killed for reseaching purpose and was brought ashore.
Different from the expected, this deep sea creature had no unusual appearance besides it's length of about 90 feet and reminds us of a mixture between primitive fish and lizard. Still the researchers puzzle about its classification. At the moment the guesses go in the direction of coelacanths and other jaw-fishes, though the Leviathan (as the researchers call it for the time being) misses several fins and flappers, but only has three pairs of pectoral fins shaped like the ones known of whales and a uberlong tail with sharp spikes. Researchers found rests of other deep sea animals bodies on these spikes; either octopuses and other rather defenseless creatures get casually hit and killed by the spikes or the Leviathan uses his tail intentionally for hunting. The Leviathans diet consists of every animal that's smaller and/or weaker than itself. It cannot swim very fast, but very directed. Similar to dolphins they orientate themselves with a sonar system in the head.
Leviathans are most probably live solitarily and give birth to living hatchlings (since they found a fully developed small Leviathan withiout any egg integument in the larger exemplars belly).
The latest reports give information about the unique colour of the Leviathans, already called Orange Leviathans by the puplic. The body contains just one single pigment, that colours the whole body, even teeth, spikes, inner organs and the tiny eyes vividly range.

Rendering after low-res photo taken by an AeroBot on Costeau 13, during filming for survey on the Sub-explorers of the planet.
Little is known about this giant orange sea leviathan, but it solves the mystery of the 11 missing wessels.
Theory goes, that the creature, when seeing something on the surface large enough to catch it´s attention, leaps out of the water, crashing on the intended victim, bringing it down into the abyss and then pinning it on one of its gigantic teeths, starts to demolish it with the tentacle-like mounted mouth.
Since the photo was taken, witnesses claim to have seen something looking like the mouth-tentacle breaking surface, sprouding water like the long extinct whales did on Terra 1, wich leads to theories about it doubling as a breathing organ.

concept: Evergrin
Evergrin's are peculiar creatures that are named for their perpertual smile (guh). They dislike open air, but their (for lack of a better term) tentacles are useful for snatching things closer to the sea surface, such as whales coming up for air, boats, and low flying planes. Attacking manned vessels has created the myth of the giant squid, which, of course, is totally ridiculous.
Evergrin's have no eyes to speak of, but their sense of hearing is equal to none in all the world and they can imitate any sound within it to extreme accuracy. There was once an incident not so long ago where an Evergrin followed a passenger ship for miles until it finally veered off course, much to the relieved sighs of the passengers. Unknown to them, the creature had been following the sounds of an obnoxiously loud cd player spouting emo in one of the lower cabins. For years afterward, the approaching sound of 'you are the wind beneath my wings' meant impending doom for a ship or submarine.

concept: Pacific Coral-Grinder
As the early ancestor of today's clownfish, a Coral-Grinder spent it's entire life inside the tropical reefs of the pacific. With enough jaw pressure to bite through a passenger boat, this large fish consumed the often rock-hard sea plants that were native at the time. Though it was a herbivore by nature, it was not a rare site to watch this clumsy, poor-sighted fish consume entire schools of fish as it pecked at it's meals.
With no natural predators, the Coral-Grinder quickly overpopulated coastlines and destroyed the large, colorful fields that lined the coasts. As generations passed, the mammoth fish became smaller and smaller to make up for it's quickly depleating food supply.

concept: Firegron Leviathan
The Firegon is a deep-sea leviathan that lives in sumberged volcanoes. It’s skin is nearly impossible to penetrate and is even resistant to lava. They were originally blueish, but after living in such areas like volcanoes and hot enviroments under the deepest parts of the sea they have turned into a fiery orange. The Firegron spends much of its years hibernating in these hot aand deep recises absorbing the heat around it. It’s hard skin collects heat particles to use as a defense mechanism and also as a attacking device.
Every fifteen years though a Firegron must eat. It is in this time that firegon Leviathans will leave their hibernating spots, and cause utter chaos in the sea and above. They are very well known to attack coastlines and demolish whole cities close to the sea.
Due to the fact that Firegrons absorbs so much heat in there skin they tend to emitt these extreme levels of heat off their bodies. They will release all heat particles collected under sea when they swim up to cooler areas. A firegron Leviathan can emitt so much heat that surfaces of oceans can begin to boil, they can also melt metal and cause buildings to erupt in flames.
