JoeHell's sketchbook: Now an art student. update 1/10

Hi guys! first I would like to thank all the people who wrote in my selftutoring thread, pushed me and gave me hints.. I got into the art school I wanted to so the next two years I hope you guys will be able to see me evolve alot..

thought I start a new sketchthread since the last one was mostly about drawing to get me into school, the school I aplyed two would'nt have anything els than drawings and paintings from life so I mostly did that..
Now I'm more free to draw and paint however I want and have time over to start trying out the digital mediums..

well enough with the talking.. here's my latest batch of stuff.. will try to update at least weekly..

Damn I love your pencil style! you already know it!

Your digitals keep getting better!

but why do you start a new sketchbook?

I love seing peoples progress AND improvment, to see
were people did wrong, and when they corrected and

went so badass! however, keep this thread up, and hope its
gonna be your last thread in the skethbook section !

Crits:
Your extremly well on lighting, but I dunno your lights on the pencil
work sometimes seems very random!

The dwarf and the eye is both awsome and well done
the pilot is nice, but could need some refine ment!

The guy screaming seems very angry, but the things going over his nose is
pretty much off, other than that yoou improving your digitals!

The robot is also pretty well done, although I would
have liked it more if you didnt have coloured it!
It looks cool though when it looks like its comeing out from
a storm or something ready to kill!
still its something with the Eye that is bugging me, it makes it look lazy!
Just keep the pencil work up, I love it as Id said!

yeah kinda new at this digital stuff but it's going forward..

I started a new sketchbook because the old one felt like it was a whole other thing.. this will be a more free sketchbook were I post almost everything I do..

Your sketchbook is coolness, the soldier freakin perfect and to add to it you didn 't use a ref which makes it better. I also like the ape because all apes are cool except for ones that try to kill me.

I would say draw some more stuff from the army and war.

you should, and the perspective looks abit odd! although I dunno
how many vehicles you've done.. so I guess we all have to
start somewere ?!

Dile: Well the car is drawn from life when I was really hungover.. Guess there are alot of perspective flaws in it, but not to major I think.. I was sitting a bit away from it so the perspective does'nt get very extreme.. But yeah, you're right, I need to work more on vehicles and perspective and all that so thats what I do now.. Really need to do more enviros to..

Here's a tank I did yesterday, used ref for the details of it but not for perspective and stuff like that, what I mean is I did'nt draw from a picture, but I borrowed parts from one.. Working on another military vehicle right now, but that one is straight from my mind..

A new digital picture I started today.. Changed the color scheme in the middle of it so it looks all fucked up right now with the colors and all but I'm going for the color scheme from the face..
It's at a really early stage and it would be alot of fun to get some feedback on it as I go along..

Got some great C&C on cgtalkwhich I feel raised the quality of this illustration alot, loosend her up a bit, more swing in hips and shoulders which makes her feel a bit more badass..

Good work in this SB. Your last post seems to be coming along pretty well. You might try off centering her to give the composition a little more movement. Your previous hand studies are really nice! Good rendering and proportions. You have some serious skillz, keep me comin!

did this whilpeeking on a El Coro PSD i downloaded from here on CA, really great thing with those PSD one can download here, thanks for that to the people running conceptart and to El Coro for sharing some of his great PSD's.. reallt learing alot from that..
othar than that it's still me who did the picture, the motif and so on, even though I cheated a bit and I think this is my best enviroment so far...

Hey bro,

Nice environments! you are making quick progress. You have some nice colors in the van painting. Sorry about the confusion on my last post. I meant you should try positioning here and the dog somewhere other than in the middle of the page on your final render. Its coming along really nicely. I like the small details that describe the character.

As before, awesome drawings too!
