Man, your really doing your homeworkI really envy your dedication. Your anatomy is improving a lot. Now try to translate what you're learning from Loomis and other books to some live or photo studies.
And I dig those toothbrush portraits.
Keep the pace man.

I see MASSIVE improvement here since I last visited, wich is way good, i would love if you tried to work more on referrence work, also finish that aircraft down!!
I would so love to see it fully rendered, and not so fuzzy colors etc! you got good potentialkeep it up! I be waiting for more updates

hey, james, the colored eye studies are very interesting. I think you can do more studies of simple forms, such as boxes, cones and balls. Not necessarily shading them, but try to go over the form as you did with the eyes. Don't worry about anatomy too much at very beginning. You will get them all in due time. And when you get confident with the form and its direction in space, anatomy is just a decoration of the form.![]()

Hey dude
Great to see this type of dedication from one so young such as yourself. These are definitely on the right track. Pay more attention to your linework: Think about where you want the line to start and where you want it to end, try to pick up your pencil as little as possible, as this will force you to think more about what you are doing and should help with that hairyness.
Photographing drawing can be tricky - make sure you don't shine a light right onto the drawing, as the graphite reflect light. Also try to find a tripod or somthing stable. When you've photographing, take the images into photoshop and and do some colourcorrection.
Really good work, great progress! - rated your thread - think you will like it!
ciao dude!

Nice updates. I'd say the biggest area you need to improve is your shapes. Really measure and try to get them exact. This is way more important and difficult when drawing from life, which makes you that much better at it. don't see an eye or nose, see a light area with a circle in the middle, and the nose as two colors that are separate values. Hopefully I'm making some sense. But don't see noses and eyes and such, see the shapes that put together form the two dimensional illusions of eyes and noses. And everyone at every skill level is working on the same thing.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell

Great progress. Your anatomy is looking even better. I agree with all those who have said basic shapes and basic values, and i think your understanding of value is improving greatly. Keep up the fast pace~

I agree with dile - it is great to see you updating so much. I'd really like to see a longer study in digital because your quickies are so much better than they were. Keep sketching.

That last batch is awesome! I know what you're saying. When i spend a longer time on something i think it looks stupid, but then i keep working on it for a while past that point and sometimes i get to a place where i'm really happy with it. Try that out. It's kind of like running, where you hit a breaking point and then you get a second wind... Yeah, so, keep studying/doodling/drawing.
fishspawn-thanks ..alot , i really like your explanationso i will try it and post my results
they will probably suck
well i was trying out the impasto brushes and walaand i spent a little bit longer on this one i supose . wasnt really in a drawing mood today![]()

It's great to see you updating so often.
Your pencils studies are really improving. However, your digis are looking kinda rushed. Try taking your time, do a couple of value studies the same way you do in pencil. Right now it looks like you're in a hurry, and from your comments you you are not satisfied by most of the digis. So try to slow down, do some life studies (objects, people). Maybe even leave the wacom alone for a couple of days.
Keep it up man, the practice is starting to show.
fedezz-thanks,your right my digis are rushed i think i should try to take more time .. i will do some life refs as well
well just some very quick sketches and a charcol one ..... tomorow i will do a longer drawing
