Hey james. I love the rendering on that first robot, and the lines on the potted plant are WONDERFUL. Try mixing those techniques and you'll have an awesomely drawn and rendered finished piece. A couple of crits. On the plant, i see straight lines - usually organic shapes don't have those. Also, you might you might want to watch your line weight a little when working with pen - play around with thickness to get more dynamic lighting even without value. Keep it up!

Agree with fish 100 percent. That plant is great! Do some referenced rendering in the fashion of the first robot, and keep doing that life object drawings, they're fun and really help you to nail the basic volumes in space.
Keep up the good work man!!

Yo james. THe portrait is looking better. With the eyes, remember that the eyelids cover the eyes and wrap around them, so you can't see that much of the iris. also, like people have been telling me, more contrast! Push the darks. Over all though it is a big improvement, keep it up!

Me likes the acrylic sp. Maybe you went overboard with white, but I like it a lot. The last pencil sp looks good too. One thing I've noticed is that you tend to do flat mouths and eyes. Try drawing the eyelids, and avoid using an outline in the mouth and eyes, unsing incomplete lines like you did with the nose.
    Keep it up!

Some good work. To avoid symbolizing your features do not concentrate on any one in particular, move around the mask, placing lines as and where you seem them. Keep going.

No man, those where not bad at all!! I'm diggin the first one from your pevious post, you handled the construction of volume through hatching planes really well. I'd love to see more like of that. Same goes for this.
And the digi looks terrific, definitely your best to this date.
    Keep it up!

    Hey james,

Sorry for not stopping by as offen as you do. That digi bot one is your best one so far, I'd proabbly work a blue and an orange into it to bring it more alive (but that's just my colour choice).

Last water colour face is cool too, but some darker browny black to define the face would help.

Oh before I forget, with stuff like machinery and space ships - try thinking about them as box shapes that you carve out of, otherwise the construction of them will look too flimsy and loose.

    Anyway keep em coming

Those studies are coming along nicely. Noses are looking particularly good.
Watercolor sp is looking good too, just push those values as Rayk suggested.
    Keep it up!

You're progressing quite well. Keep drawing muscles and sinews and bones and the like. I will enjoy checking up on this one.
    oh, here's my sketchbook.

Also, my website. It would get beat up in a fight.

getting good bro, almost depresses me cause you're only 14 and you're getting such a head start in this online community business! i wish i heard of it when i was 14 haha,

    http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...7&d=1159302408
this one is especially appealing to me, it has really great movement, and i think its great : )

i know it's prolly tough, but try and do some figure drawings, even if it sfrom a book, just try and get a bette rknowledge of the body.

I think if you added some twists in the torsos or non-portrait drawings your creature will look more livly and less stiff. good luck and have fun with it bro!
Do not, ever, under any circumstances, not have fun.

Nice, i really like that page of heads. Keep doing more bridgeman, and get the figures book if you don't have it, the sections on rhythm and weight and everything are really good. Keep up the anatomy and show us some more life!

The face is awesome on that digi. Try to render the whole figure with that level of detail. Watch the proportions on your anatomy, and keep up the good work.

I second what Fishspawn said earlier about doing more Bridgeman studies. Do them every day and a month from now your form and proportion will have improved a ton. I like the Hogarth books as well.
I think where your faces are failing is that your not seeing/drawing them as 3 dimensional objects. A good way to fix this is to draw faces/skulls simply as a series of connected planes. Take a head and simplify it into flat surfaces, as if it were carved quickly from a block of wood. Its tricky at first, but it helps see things as real objects instead of icons. Hope I got my point across well enough.

Daaaaaaamn, those Bridgman studies are looking awesome!!!! Nothing to crit on those. Digis are looking good too, looking 3d. Just don't abuse the soft airbrush, use it large at the beginning to block the volumes and then work with a hard edge brush.
    Keep it up!
