Here's my color comps and finished enviro for this week... Theme was "halloween"
Hey Wes, nice to see you tackling environments again. You really need to watch the value relationships - some of these have a very sharp drop off between values where there should be a much softer one. Also try to establish a scale where you aren't hitting white or black - some pretty muted colours can look very bright in the right colour relationship.
I also think you should look at how other artist are composing their works and establishing scale. Try finding some works that really inspire you and sit them near what you are working on. Look at how that artist tackling lighting, composition, scale and so on. Where is he putting the viewer? How is he making your eye flow? What makes those images "work". Try colour picking his image and studying his/her colour choices. I'll think you'll find lots of answers that will help your work.
Hope I didn't confuse you, keep rocking, keep pushing!![]()

rayk - thanks for the crits -you're definitely right. I tend to rely on some crutches that I'm used to instead of really observing reality... gotta keep working!

Another girl doodle. Just trying to get more realistic from my imagination...
Awesome progress, man! Inspired by your dedication! Keep on going, great thread!
Hey Wes, those portraits are getting better (especially from life)! Really watch the structure in the ones from imagination, I feel you are flattening the eye plane too much. Keep pushing bud - I think it's paying off.
To see how far you've come with your skills is amazing. You have improved substantially since your first post. It goes to show that consistent practice makes perfect skillz. Keep it up..it's inspiring.
Looking good dude. I'm on the same boat, still learning. Your doing good.
ulver - thanks, good to hear~

Hadn't done a crazy angelic person in a while. This was a quick sketch for a few hours.
/sigh
you're too awesome for me now =\
You're really starting to pick up the life drawing. As far as the concept stuff, really try to get a feeling of form in the 2d linework, it'll help with the structure and design of stuff. Cool to see you're improvement as always. Keep going.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
