rayk - thanks, i usually do that too. Thanks for pointing out the vanishing point issue, i'll work on that
n1va - aw theres always SOMETHING to critThanks for dropping by and giving me a boost
james - thanks. Those were actually done in the car, hence the bad lines. Will try to work with bigger brushes.
Stuff going on so not much time, doodles from school for ya. Trying to invent poses with my knowledge of anatomy and design characters. Also trying to do more emotions in faces/poses.
you have alot of interesting ideas, you should ick one and finish it for us
i love the way you did the wings, and i love the dudes helmet on the paper you said shtuupid![]()
very cool stuff, is that the real texture of the paper you work on?
hey,
like the dogs, on faces try and do some looser ones with the side of your pencil building them up with values.I like the girls poses , really look 3d and the guy with four wings is the best , continue developing that .![]()

jdeegs - thank you, time is the only problem
hyptosis - well its not that textured, but it's recycled so it looks like it, its good paper though
james- thank ye, will do
kind of a lame class tonight. We started with two 15 minute poses and then did two 30 minute poses... Was supposed to be costume for halloween but the costume wasn't very inventive, and the model wasn't that great :/. Eh, i had some fun trying out new stuff, brushpens and super graphic style with charcoal. Tomorrow i might have some free time to draw! Just maybe.
My SP, 20 min PS from mirror (after 2 hours of trash)
Glad to see you joined in. Good speed on that one. As far as the landscape goes, perspective is a bit wonky on the bridge. A man of wisdom (Coro) once told me that a good way to get better at enviros is to take screen captures from movies and copy those. The movie guys already figured out the lighting and atmosphere, so you're copying from the best money can buy. I think it would help you tighten up and get a better feel for those things.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
Thanks blue severin, thats a really good idea, all i need now is the time to do it
Life drawing, last two were 30 min each. I was using watercolor brush pens on the early ones and the later ones were charcoal + water with a brush, very fun. First time i've tried that.
Man, you're an update machineGestures are looking sweet, just mind the placement of the features, right now they look flat and no following the volume of the cranium. And I'd love to see that self portrait updated.
Hey your making some good progress!
I like the Leonardo studies. at least im pretty sure thats who it is.
Nice work! Keep updating!![]()
hey ,
?I like the fourth one , nice and simple. Good to be trying new mediums out .. the last one looks a little stiff and you have made the freatures lines to harsh ( spmthing you do on quite a few of your faces) , like on the halloween one you have just hinted the nose and it looks better.
keep it up .james.

codenothing - they were from all over the place, leo might have been one, thanks for stopping by
james - thanks, I'll try to work on that
Heres a digi character sketch.
More stuff
hey ,
bridgeman is good, the background on that guy is awsome but i think the mans wings look a bit flat try adding some curve on them. I like the last one but i think it would look better with a smaller sword because its distracting my eye right now.
keep it up .james.

Heres an update on the seraphim
nice works in color dude, are you going to work on the seraphim more or are yah calling it done? it looks great so far!
anyways back to writing my art history paper hahah
hey,
Its looking better but i think it looked cool when he looked as if he was flying.Bring some detail into the floor like litlle trees, cause it sort of looks like he is standing on the floor ( unless thats what you wanted)

jdeegz - thanks for stopping by, yeah i think i'm going to keep working on it, may do a diff drawing of the same char though and work on that one
guitarjames - Alright, thanks for the input, tell me what you think of this one
Some figures, no model tonight so we drew students. Ink and two charcoals. The First ones were 3 and 15 min and the other two were 30 min. More work on the angel, not sure if i like this direction. I may do a different drawing with a more exciting compo and make that one more... finished.
hey
I like the lifedrawings but the charcol ones have small legs .Dont be afraid to make them longeralso the girls arm is small and the mans arm looks a bit bendy remember underlying bones.'Rant'
the new digi is looking really cool , could turn into a really good piece IMO. maybe make the Dark clouds? on the side less symetrical. Then start refining it

that angel thing is off the hook! keep it up man, super work =]
getting better with figure; watch your line weight.
I looked over the first page of this, then skipped to the last page, and WOW. You have improved by leaps and bounds. I look forward to more updates from you, and I can tell from your regular posting that I have lots to look forward to!
guitarjames - thanks for the constant critiques. Some of the proportions may have been off a little but they weren't long-legged people, but i do agree about the bendiness, gotta work on that. I'm not sure if i want to continue that one of the seraphim or start a new one with a diff/more exciting pose, but thanks for the crits.
hyptosis - thanks man
Listing - thanks, will do
leiana - thanks for feeding the fish, and welcome to the boards
more messing around with life drawing. I feel bad for not posting yesterday but i DID kill lots of zombies...
6 -2min, 3 -5min, 2 -15min, 2 -30min i believe. Last one was pastel, rest were charcoal or sanguine conte. I had lots of fun with toned paper
EDIT: Here's a new version of the seraphim

Lots of improvement and hard work here. I love to see that.
See what you can do with a single line. I see a lot of hesitance in your gestural/figure drawings; find the beauty of a curve a follow it from head to toe. Try working straight in pen or ink with a brush and don't worry so much about speed, but communicating the beauty of what you're seeing. Show us the grace of the contrapasto and the fluidity of the angles, for example.
The progress here is great. Take your time :.
max xiantu - thanks for the push in a new direction, its always helpful to hear a new (/forgotten) perspective
Heres a doodle turned digisketch. Maybe an hour total?
Some deer studies and a piece of paper for you. The paper was fun, kind of meditative. I was really just practicing contour but then i decided to shade it. 1 hour ish.
hey there! I just scanned over the last page of your SB and there has been great improvement! You got the idea of the fluidity of line in those animal sketches.
Your lighting is very good but I'd love to see some more linear structure like that paper you just posted. You can demonstrate the light source in a linear drawing by varying the thickness for shadow/light areas. It'llt ake some time but you'llg et the hang of showing the contour AND shadow AND depth with just one line.![]()

beutiful maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan oh man watch out.
Ian Mack - Thanks, i think i'll be doing more paper sketches so i'll be working on that as well
jdeegz - lol, um, thanks
Just for fun here's a super quick 35 min speedy remake of one of my first digipaints (on the first page) First is the old, 2nd is the new.
