I guess if you all knew something about me, we could have a great relationship....or relationshit...whichever. I am 20 YO and I have been drawing, copying, sketching for as long as I can remember. I was commissioned in 5th grade to do a mural on a wall with another student but we never finished it. It kinda sucked anyways . Well, I continued sketching ideas and stuff but then computers came along and I kinda fell out of that and the sketches became doodles. The last thing I drew that could have been even considered was done in 9th grade (I'll upload it one of these days). I am just now getting back into the life of art and sketching, reason is I want to become an architect and I have a game project that I also want to design characters and enviros for. Maybe more will come of this...? At least you all know something about me now...CRITS and Curse words are encouraged to help me make things better

Question: Where can I find tuts or help on human perspectives, dynamics, and fluidity? I can never seem to get the perspectives right on faces, arms, and the body in general. ANy help would help me

Hey man, keep up the good work. I'm glad to see you taking to the anatomy training so hardcore, don't forget to draw from life a lot too. Doing some gestures of people at the bookstore, cafe, etc. will probably help you with your fluidity and posing.

the only thing i can suggest to you...
is work on the basics..and work your way up
but also..leave room..just do your own stuff...

whats your goal...in creating your thread...
what books are u using to study anatomy?
before drawing random things... write a small list..on what you want to work on...

good stuff i really like the third one the best, because of the muscle sketches looks great, but in some of the drawings it doesnt look as if you are putting in your full ability to the drawing as the others. Keep drawing

White Rose: I'm using an anatomy book by a guy named Peck (forget his first name), Hogarth for faces, and I just picked up two more books on perspective and anatomy, and heads again. You're right, I don't put forth my full ability into some of the pieces. I'll try to fix that with my next couple of posts.

Ermac: Thanks. I like that one too. I'll try to get a few more of anatomy sketches done and also some life gestures.

Your muscle and bone studies are very good I like them a lot too. Do more drawings in the same way. Try to do more studies - it is very helpful practice. Good start Saikin, but don't get into the habit of talking yourself down - it's a hard one to shake in the long run. I echo other comments about study, and try to get as much drawing from life in as possible, too; it'll teach you to apply, or at least look out for, what you learn from the books. Keep it up!

The recent anatomy work is very nice. In progressing with your forms you have to break from the symbolism that we all develop initially. So, for that, I'd recommend you drop anatomy for now, and apply your time fully to studies from life (in pen - for confidence).

i'll be very direct, just so as to make it more obvious for u...to encourage u to take tat step to improve coz all of us knows our shortcomings on a certain lvl but just find it hard to push ourselves. ur lines r too thick and wifout weight thus making ur sketches blocky n flat. i myself draw wif a sharpened pencil all the time, preference plus it forces me to draw my construction lines light and create forms wif weighing the lines.maybe u can try tat but no guarantee it will work, i'm a newbie too. just wanna help. hope i was tactful enuff.

Listing - I have done some life studies (may not be apparent in above sketches). I'll do some more and see what I can come up with. Pen eh? I'll see what I can do :d

emptyvessel - I know exactly what you mean. My lines are thick b/c I usually go over them 3-5 times and then move on. But yes, I too use a sharpened pencil with every sketch. I use 2 different sharpeners just for the job. I think I'll have more confidence in my lines and see where that takes me

Great start here keep that pencil moving your line work will only keep improving! Draw from life but also keep doing anatomy studies!

Line work and shading both important. Try to get a feel for light source as well, that way your objects will look more solid.

Drawing simple objects helps. Eggs are pretty good, try to get them lit from one source and sketch them. I know it sounds boring, but it does help. Promise.

I agree with the other crits. draw more life. Do your studies one day then the next day go to the mall or cafe or something and just draw people who walk by or people sitting having coffee. Get a feel for the movement.

Another tip is to lightly draw in your guide lines, "feel your way" lightly and then when you're sure where the line should go, draw that in either a heavier or with a darker pencil.

i said it before and il say it again dont scribble with the pencil ,try out cwnannwn's tip also i see u drew the egg but u should shade it in aswell to get the feeling of lighting,draw lots of them with lots of difrent light sources. keep on drawing

Hi. Guitarjames gave you a valuable advice there. Take your time an think before every line, so you are forced to get it right on the firsta attempt. Of course this isn't going to happen right away but it'll make you pay attention to the initial placement of features. Keep drawing, I can see you're progressing already!

dile- Thanks Dile. I came by yours a while back. I'm working on the heads all the time so I should be getting better soon.
fishspawn- Thanks. It's my roommate and she kinda moved her arms a bit but I fixed it quickly. I know her head is kinda messed up but I'm still working on those
fedezz- Yeah, I try to do a line with one stroke but for some reason I like going over them a few times. Gives me the since that they are "perfect". :p
guitarjames- I'll try...I think I can get it down but it will take some more time
