    Spider on an iris

Just thought I would post a pic I took about a month ago and introduce myself. Lover of macro photography obviously.

Spiders are fantastic. Now if only I could get over the problem of them having far too many legs. So do centipedes, but they don't move them so sinisterly.

    Nice macro.

This just reminded me of my dream last night, i was on a tropical island with giant crabs and i was being chased by a big centipede, like the size of my leg. it was all different colors, but mainly bold colors. I ran and ran and then jumped into the water thinking itd be scared of water but it went straight under near my feet and Im not sure from then on...this has to become a painting or something for me.

Nice photo I love marco photography, Im currently debating whether to get a good marco or a good fisheye. The spider is very cute indeed, you framed the shit v nicely and though about it , welcome to the boards, it'd be cool to see more of your work

just my opinion, but i'd go for a good macro first. i'd find way more uses for a good macro than a fish-eye, and untill you can afford both, you can always distort in photoshop

Thanks for looking everyone. This was done with a maxxum 5D and sigma 105 macro lens. Handheld in natural light ( still don't have a ring flash yet). I'll post a few more if you like, I've got lots of insect photos over the last two years.

I dunno dude, ussualy Photoshop manip is easyly noticeable, even if it's done by a proffesional. Think about it, ur distorting an already shot pic, not the image that becomes a pic. Photoshop alterations ussualy lead to visual aberations that can ruin a great pic.

As for fish-eye vs, macro i say go for the fish eye, Macros are just nice pics but they never have a good composition / good emotive aspects behind them. But then again thats the way i see photography.

Just my 2 cents. Hope i helped.

Btw, great spider u have there

    Cheers!

Sam: The cats are going to dress up as Spiders in order to really inflict some damage next time they wake you up at three thirty in the morning.

Thought I would podt one more in this thread if it's ok. He didn't cooperate much in his next pose but I liked how the petals were setup, Kind'a like a platform up front with a distant background. Cropped this one a little for composition.

She's a Salticidae (a jumping spider) if you had a shot of the abdomen I could give it a go at telling you what it is. It depends where you are in the world of course, there are lots of different jumping spiders out there.

Nice photo too, wish my camera got that close
