hot damn that's a good update!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...jennograph.jpg is just a damned beautiful drawing. she looks so cozy there and the comforter so soft, and there's the hair drawn to and leading to the recently vacated pillow. awesome work.

I love the style of the blue canson, the detail and texture on the man (if texture's the right word for hairy man skin), and the expressive contours of the 1st drawing class drawing

forget crits, with worklike this I'm just along for the ride

Craig Houghton- thanks for that moral boosting comment! i enjoy your appreciation for the traditional mediums (some people now esp on this forum only care about digital and neglect traditional mediums) thats partly why i am a fine arts major and not an illustration major. i find that the greatest artists embrace the traditional mediums thus making their work more and more inventive and new, like a new flavor of Pringles (YUM!) thats what i say "YUM!"

though i still have much to learn about that... and i plan to spend the rest of my life exploring the art world and trying improve myself as an artist.

again thanks for that lofty comment!

i thought ide post this one... at the courthouse down town columbus! (1.5 hrs ballpoint pen)

    ...and so it continues...

I love looking at your sketchbook pages. so fluid.

It seems all art colleges have those L shaped drawing stool things. Oh, life drawing you were good to me.

Call0ps, RaistlinTheDark - thanks thanks thanks

Fishspawn- yeah tankya... this stuff is soo old though... everything is all delayed by a month... i really hope to have more recent work up soon!!!

LauraD- yeah those "horse" stool are annoying and uncomfortable, ive been trying to break away from them and draw on the ground or on a chair suspended on boxes or hanging on the cieling!!

Ryan DeMita- thanks very much. yeah ive been trying to integrate smooth contours with my more rendered work. i really really strongly believe that basic line contour is soooo important!!!

    more werk soon~!

Hey, at CCAD huh! Ive just been recently accepted to there, will be attending in the fall. That is if financial aid pulls through for me. Im 19 myself, but you are far ahead of me when it comes to skill, but that just gives me a reason to work harder at my own style. Really nice pencils, especially the studies from life. And the creatures are beyond creepy. Very nice style you have if I might say so. Will have to check this thread more often.

I'd say your pencils (and oils) are a whole lot stronger than your digital skills so far, but you'll even your skill as you go, mate.

You're going to somekind of art school , yes?

mathias and incredibleandy tore me a new one for cutting my image in half. Your doing the same thing in you moon image, with that tree bark. you may want to take it out completely or adjust to get it to be a successful image. Nice pencils homeslice! XD

Beelow- i realize this... this is just a sketchbook and i post almost everything... even with the mistakes.... although, there are many schools of thought when it comes to composition, and to show this "quick sketch" helps me realize many differences in opinion, such as yourself... thanks ...i also realize that in an expiremental sence, to go against "schools of thought" can be creative and fresh... (<--- fine art jib jab)

    is this better?

....i think its because the tree it too straight, so even if it isnt cut 50 50 it still looks less dynamic... i will remember this for next time...

loads of improvement here, especially when drawing from life I think... great work!

Ive got a question, this one from a while back is awesome: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...reduction2.jpg and im wondering what you used to smudge? im experimenting alot with smudging graphite atm (4B or so, with my finger lol) and im not getting as dark values as you are... or are you using charcoal? that would explain alot...

    thanks man, keep it up!

archipelago- i use graphite powder and smear the whole page down pretty lightly, i smear it with a tissue, and i wouldnt recommend using your finger. then i do my drawing in HB usually then jus smear or add some more graphite powder wherever needed.

Great updates as always. Especially the last piece, very eerie and yet very appealing. I really like the lighting on the water. I was wondering if you could drop by my new thread and give some advice about what to study and draw before I go to CA. You know, just to help get myself ready for the long haul as is CCAD. Would be greatly appreciated. Will be hanging around the CCAD thread more often, forgot there was one, been kinda busy lately.
