your rendering seems to be your strongest skill at the moment. Continue to do observations but keep in mind what you are observing. Notice patterns. Notice how muscles bend. Notice curves and make mental notes. there is looking at things and there is seeing things. To develop as an artist you have to see what others don't!! Keep up the hard work. It's all looking great! I really like the one you did wjile talking to friends. It shows alot of imagination!!

    Where is the PEPPER?
nice man! I think doing some facial feature studies might help you see where you need to define things, or where you are doing something wrong. Its not really about anatomy but about form, grab a magazine and fill a page with eyes, then with noses and then with lips, and I think youll discover forms and shapes you havent seen before

Good study. Keep it up with your anatomy. Go on with the pen with Archipelago's assurance. Do more general observational work to clean up your lines.

Ur stuff is coming along man. More anatomy studies man, you really need to get that stuff tightened down. Like the last piece, came together pretty good.

Ace! Nice blob of hands, take care with the fingers though, they are too pointy!
Dont forget about the wrist either, draw about 2 inches down because its important to know how the hand is connected to the arm, most notably the Ulna, a bulb on the wrist, small finger side, the Radius, a rectangularish bone on the thumb side, (The Radius turns over the Ulna when the hand twists) and the tendons of the extendors and flexors leading into the hand (Flexors are on the palm side, Extensors on the other side)

LOL, thats my poor anatomy description anyway, just get out that new anatomy book and learn what I just told you yourself

Great progression since the beginning man!

Keep up the studies, but try to focus more on linework and structure, theyre lacking, and good rendering and value will to nothing to fix those fundamental errors.

    Hey Spade !
thought i could return the favor =)
Good work on those pages, but sirgreensock speaks the truth. Even i stop a bit rendering stuff seeing that i lack with my lines.
Try the same, and draw a few skull from time to time. Your heads would look awsome with some more anatomy pushed in
Good work on the busts and hands though.
    keep it up !

Greensock- Thanks! I feel very.. naked doing linework atm, but i am trying to focus on it much more. Basically with todays update i tried to avoid using rendering on the studies, but it snuck in here and there, need more disciplin. Cheers for the crit

Chiko- thanks for the support, and the crit. Faces (like everthing ) is something im gonna be working on more, need to get out and draw more people from life, slacked off abit, pretty much same goes for my "daily" Sps.. (cough, cough) thanks for stoppin by!

Recursive- thankies, will do, tried some skull stuff today!

heres some stuff, going out to a competition later, prolly another update this evening!
    in no real order....

Good studies. Just keep doing what you're doing.

Watch the eye placement in your faces. In both profile and 3/4 views you place them too close to the bridge of the nose, theyre missing the socket which flattens the face.
Second of all, from my experience you'll absorb more in your anatomy studies if you dont focus on such a small area, because it rarely acts alone. So in your studies of the arm you gotta include both ends, draw the hand as well as the shoulder, back and chest muscles that move along witht he arm. You'll get a better undestanding of the whole structure and means of movement.

Hey Spade! Sorry for not coming by more often.
Definate improvement since I last came by! I'll have to second what SirGreenSock said, especially doing the whole body when doing a study. It also helps to do some full figures from imagination to make sure you remember what you've been learning.
Wish I could help more, just keep it up!

excellent to see you try out different subjects, you're improving in many directions. Those black ink experiments in post 72 looked really good,, you should try something bigger. All the studies are really looking good at this point, and all you should do is just continue this way

(and keep up the topic )

    ciao

oh boy, this stuff is getting inspiring, especially this page http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...8&d=1152960258
Keep going, i noticed on the last update that you covered well the line work with some shading, that give a nice result. But don't forget to go as far as possible with the lines before rendering
Also, be carefull with the shape of your heads. the upper part of the skull isn't perfectly round, it be a bit more straight.
    Anyway, keep pushing man !!
