    Princess

I just finished the following character, part of an overall environment design as shown in my "Seraphim" thread below. I managed to draw/design this in about 3 hours, though the actual painting took around 8 hours or so. Any comments are appreciated, thanks!

I can't say anything except that it looks great to me man. Maybe there's something specific you're aiming for? Something we should pay particular attention to?

    Sweet! i like it alot!
The hand touching the neck is a bit wonky though and the arm doesnt connect right, same goes for the feet. Thats a big toe sticking out there You might want to sharpen some the details a bit, make the jewels shine more to pop out etc. And give the skintones a little love.
Could be a really nice piece, mate!

Nothing in particular, just glaring problems that I may have missed from working on it for long time... thanks for compliment!

Hey there! Can you be more specific about the hand? Draw-overs would really help. I actually drew her nude first and then added the layers of clothing, but for some reason, her toe ended up being visible... you think I should just cover it up? I rendered her with one of those "hairy tip" brushes in PS so I could get a "painterly" look, which is probably why her focus looks a bit soft.

I did a multiply layer over the original painting to get some of the color effects, so maybe I should clean it up around the ornaments to get some more shine.

Any particular advice as to how I might improve the skin?

hey - well looking at the hand again its really not that much off - i think if you play around with the shadows on it to make it look more like the fingers are bend(?) more - right now they look mostly short. Hope that made sense. If you look where the albow ends and the upperarm is covered by the dress and make a line from the upperarm down you will notice that it would need to have a very strange curve to connect to the albow.
The skintones look very black and white with a few hints of red, except for the hands. I like that the hands are darker than the rest of body, but avoid black when rendering skintones. (and white btw). Use the colors from the dress in the castshadows, dark blue and red. Yeah, i would cover the feet here - or make it smaller and pointing more outwards to the viewer. Both feet are pointing the same way - which give her a bit of an unballanced pose - at least in my eyes. Makes her look a bit clomsy I like the painterly look, but you could easly be more daring and show some of the brushwork here and there. Add dynamics. Push the light more without going darker in the shadows. Hope any of this made sence - its late and my english sucks

    Updated a few things...

-fixed her left arm and hand
-tweaked her outfit for a more glowing/luminous effect
    -shrunk her big toe

If this is gonna end up the size of that gustave angel you had before, I don't think those finer details would matter.

the colour of her neck is too dark imo
compare it to the face and the shoulder
a simple shadow wouldn't darken it that much
there are always reflections of light too which kighten up shadowed parts of the skin
like from the hand in this case

Yeah, she's part of the environment but would be much larger than the angel character (she'll probably be in the foreground). I'd also like to have the characters as stand-alone designs, though.

Her head is tiny, and that upper hand looks a bit clawlike.
I like the design a lot. The painting itself isn't up to the same level, but that's probably just a matter of time and practice.

Fuggin' hand! I guess I should make it more relaxed-looking, maybe spread the fingers apart slightly...

I see what you mean regarding the head... easily fixed in PS...

Position and general size/placement of the hand are OK. The fingers need to be slightly longer, the back of the hand shorter, and the bones in the hand need to be played down a bit. Right now it looks like her fingers have only two joints, not three.

Ah, I know what you mean. I was actually trying to make it look like her fingers were receding from view, which is why they look shorter (kinda like the bottom 2 fingers on her right hand). She's suppose to be "pressing" against her body with her fingers. Obviously, the illusion is not working on my part... I should put a mirror in front of me when I am trying to rework this.

First off, the dress idea is just f'in awsome. i really dig it.

after that, my biggest complaint is her skin. its kind of dead. its something i struggle with too... maybe some warmer colors in there, here and there. :/ GL

Wow!!! the dress is f**king GORGEOUS! omg I love it!
Great design, I also love the head piece.
If there's anything for me to suggest is maybe make her face a little bit clearer, it looks a little bit smudgy, but besides that I would say this is an orgasmic piece! 10/10!
