Going to start trying out the DSG topics. Here is my first attempt.

I got this idea from a recent DSG topic, I started it so I had to finish it. Basically it is a tree uprooting as it's last leafs fall to the ground.

For anyone interested below is the reference link:

I have been taking private art instructions and I am learning more about perspective, although I have not got it down 100% I am making progress. I will try to put some more stuff up soon, I am so busy drawing I don't make time for scanning.

Also another key point in my life right now is that I got a Wacom Intuos3 6x8 for xmas. But my girlfriend will not let me have it until xmas morning, tell me that isn't fucked up. hehe

I hope to start contributing to COW etc when I can use the tablet and PS7.

So I am now learning to paint digitally with my new Wacom. There is no texture in this, and I am learning Photoshop 7. I think if I had drawn this out and scanned it in I could have made it a little better. But I am learning so what the heck, as long as I am having fun right....

Also learning to draw with my new wacom 6x8. Here is a quick sketch I did when I first got it going. I think I have improved a little since then, below is a COW I am working on right now. I am having fun learning PS 7.

Off to a great start, I agree with the other members on this, you need to spend more time on your studies. Hoping to see more, would like see more anatomy studies as well. Keep posting.

Thanks for the motivation Envisor. I am following the Bridgman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life. It is my text book for my personal art class, hehe. Here are a few more studies I did today, although I think I need to be more focused on one portion at a time, but I can't resist practicing hands, they are so hard for me.

It looks like you are making progress. Suggestion: When you are shading, try to use pencils of different hardness to achieve varying tones. You can sketch and add middle values with an HB or 2B graphite pencil, then fill in your darker values with a 4B or 6B. If you need highlights, use an eraser (kneaded erasers are my favorite) to lighten.

I think it's great to practice hands. Most people don't like hands because they are so difficult. It's good that you are taking the initiative to study something challenging.

It has been a while since I have posted here. I have been doing a lot of studies etc. Will be working to get my butt on the scanner more often.

Pay more attention to proportions before you add th detail. Think of the stick figure with a skull, ribcage and hips as a good starting point, then flesh that out.

A good basic structure goes along way towards producing good finished art, a bad base goes nowhere.

...and keep drawing!

Well I am still working hard to improve. Thanks to everyone who has commented in my sketchbook thus far. And thanks to all the other sketchbook posters out there on CA, I am learning a lot from all of you.

Hey - this just to fatten your Sb with responses since I commented in irc already - imho, the last ninja picture is the way to go. Remember, think about the gesture and movement, not contours and individual muscles. Apart from that just keep going, it seems you are on the right track. Maybe get into rendering / mass drawing a bit. You seem to be very focused on lines.

I need to be working on studies studies studies. No doubt. But fun sketches like these happen from time to time. Nothing great compared to other work on this site, but I like it.
