I'm reading Sex Drugs and Cocoa Puffs (great book!). It has absolutely nothing to do with my piece whatsoever.

Except maybe the part about Boba Fett being indirectly responsible for Pearl Jam. I'm trying to figure out how to work that in.

So is this basically what they mean by 'emo'?

You have included 31 images in your message. You are limited to using 30 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Emo? Well I don't know if we mean the same thing by the word emo but I think emo would have looked like this:

70% finished, time to die is so close, I can almost smell it, WHERE ARE MY OPPONENTS????!!

WHEERE THE HELL ARE YOU WHHHHEEEEREEEE???? buhhuuuhuhuhu

    weeeeeeeehwewewewewe

    wewewewewewe bhuhuhuhuhuhu

I'm so sad and lonesome.............but angry

    And now you come:

So is this basically what they mean by 'emo'?

And then it'S my turn again:

    YES, BITCH

And then at some point you'll proceed to cut yourself? Relax am just messing with you. I am shivering in the corner expecting the mighty foot of one of my opponents to mercilessly descend on me.

you can, but it's IMO its lame. the image should speak for itself.

and chandon , you can ask Strych9ine to put you on the reserves list. make an entry anyway and who knows you might get in.

Drop and roll, Queensoul... you might surprize your self yet!

Yeah and a lot of people here on ca.org share ur opinion, ive noticed.
But i dont get it, sure it can be a lame help, but text and image can also enstrenghen each other and tell a story/concept better

Text can work in many ways and isn't always lame. Some of my favorite pulp novel cover paintings did this with things like a man holding a newspaper where the headline is visible, or standing infront of a sign which is important to the story. It can even be used outside the image but part of the design, though trickier to pull off. Work that text baby!

On another note. Officially scrapping my piece and starting fresh today. Last night I got hit by a bolt of inspiration lightning and saw what to do to correct all the things I was unhappy with in my current piece. I had trouble sleeping I was so pumped.

Can we see your scrapped version, Dave, once the contest is all posted and Round 1 is over? I'm curious to see everyone's ideas.

Oh yeah, and hopefully my text isn't "lame." I think it helps my piece because it might be too confusing without it. Although, even with the text, some might not understand it. Oh well. Back to working on it....

damn right. nothing scarier than a blank surface. I was in the grip of fear yesterday when I had to lay a face into a painting. Just had to slop some paint down to get over it. Once you have something to work with, you know what to do

I worked in print advertising a long time... Im trying to avoid text. I hate designing with text my self. It can work, but I hate having to read the artwork. in galleries I refuse.,... I just walk past it... Image is so much stronger with out having to translate it through reading.. I think having to make that interpretation lessens the impact. Or maybe Im just lazy....

Bah, I was keeping my eyes on the Thunderdome prize. Thunderdome-wise, those other movies will just confuse you.
