Bard - Thanks for stopping by! Kevin is a great artist, and his work is helping me alot. I have old drawings that he did before, but thanks for that site. I actually have that bookmarked, and i'll have to take another look through it

I'll keep busy, you know that! Caanan? He has a book with the Dable Bros. and they got picked up by Marvel. So yup! He's officially published under Marvel now, so congrats to him! And finally, yes that's the cat from the 40 year old virgin. Ha ha, i'm surprised you recognized him!

OldNoobie - Thanks for the critic. As for the shadows, I drew it from ref and there were heavy shadows. I thought that would add some sort of dramatic punch to the pic. Better luck next time on my end

Hey friends! Today's post is a decent one. Did some life drawing and found a wonderful tutorial online for drawing, and thought I would try it out. It's something I'm going to try out more often for sure.

Also, some of you may have seen on another forum that there is a torso workshop. Draw/paint 50 torso's in a month. So I'm trying that as well.

Finally, I new painting with a new technique I tried out. Let me know what you think! Thanks again for stopping by!

    OldNoobie - Thanks man!

Ok, today's a rather quick one. A few life doodles and a torso. Once I'm done work tonight, i'll work on another torso to post up tomarow.

I'm also working on a painting from reference. I have to stop now to go to work, but I thought I would share it anyways. I have to adjust the levels and the hue/sat pretty soon as her skin is looking more yellow then it should.

I also midly screwed up and didn't put in dark enough shadows! Cheers!

Oh man I love this thread. You are doing just the things that I should be doing. (studying the anatomy) I have a lot to learn from this thread. Thanks for keeping those form studies "simple". You have a beautiful way of using the contour line. It's something that I can't do myself.

Lovely stuff. I do like your pencils better then paintings, maybe you should do those just as much. I also prefer staying monochrome and penciled whenever i can, but lately, i found that painting without drawing helps A LOT.
    Cool works here!
    Cheers,

Placeboast - I appreciate that mate! I should really stop doing it though ha ha. Start doing some more solid sketches...instead of good ol' contour!

Chupacabra - Yeah bro, painting is helping tons!

Heya gang! Been a few days since I updated, so sorry I'm really trying to get better at this whole life drawing jazz. I've been reflecting alot on my art, and where I want to go with it, and what I want IT to do for ME. This also means what I NEED to do for IT.

Ok. So. We start off with some life doodles, and 2 concepts that some of you may have already seen for the Kord and Harley comic book project that I'm working on. These two are 2 demons from the book. Greed and Envy. I hope you enjoy them, as PRIDE is next! Can't wait!!!

    Love ya!

Sweet GRAVY! I went into hibernation. And then the Wii came out, along with Zelda....

I'M BACK THOUGH! So expect some decent updates!

I'll start this off with some sketches from different sources. There's some Loomis, Bridgeman, Frazetta and muscle mag stuff in here. Also, some fun doodles at the bottom...and what the hell! Lets start this shin-dig off with a BANG!

Here's a double pager I did for the comic!

Hey gang. I have something to confess. The main reason why my art has taken such a drastic hit, and the lack of post is a stupid, and shamefull reason. World of Warcraft. I have been literally ADDICTED to this piece of crap for too long. I am no longer letting it control my time (as sad as this sounds, it's true.)

One positive thing has happened from this experience though. My art appetite has increased 5000%.

Thanks to those who stayed with me, and I hope to share more, quicker, and better!

    And something fun and silly!

yweah dude youve just gotta give that game up if you want to progress, because it sounds pretty serious! if you cant use it for just an hour or so a day then yeah its not worth it! but anyways, keep up with the figure studies they are looking good! get down to some life drawing if you can!

Whoa you're definitely one hard working learner Jar.

I'm enjoying your sketchbook so far, I personally think you have a talent for comic drawing.

I guess one general suggestion I'd make is for you to try your hand at portraying more characters with different build, height and weight.

JERI - Thanks mate! That's actually something I plan on trying real soon. Hopefully the life drawing class I'm taking now can help me with this.

Well, today I had off from work, so I'm tinkering around with colouring! All but the last one are line works from Blizzard, and I coloured over them. Till next update!

I've been hacking away, trying to understand this starting a painting in greyscale, then adding colour jazz.

Anywho, I didn't draw these, I'm sure these are Blizzard concept drawings, I just wanted something cool and fun to paintover. Please let me know what you think!

    FIRST BATCH
    Little rough. I like the rough-ness of it though;

Same as above, just blended further.

Something else I didn't take to completion.

    yay!
    a gnoll!

coloring is a bit too dark and messy, but it just takes patience and practice...i'm no expert of color anyway

keep 'em comin i'll keep watching

(damn WoW, it almost got me too, that thing is pure EVIL)

painting is hard but what you can try on those is push the highlights more, right now they seem kind of on the dark side. It is only a suggestion, I am by no means a decent painter so I am probably wrong in the approach.

Okay! So life drawing class was AWESOME! I forgot how fun, challenging and important it really was. So, I was stiff as all hell, and alot of the drawings are outta wack! Much to improve upon, but overall, I like the results! Thanks for looking!

OldNoobie - Thanks mang! Yup, I did these on Monday. It was a 3 hour class, with breaks here and there.

TheGnoll - Gracious! I'm thinking of trying to be tighter next Monday. Maybe try pencil instead of charcoal. Much appreciated none the less!

Also!!! There's will be another update laters today
