    PhatAndy: Glad you like it!

    Whitevillage: Thanks!

Rumpenstiltzkin: Right on about the Samus, but which one is the Orianna? I never played the game you see. Or is that from somewhere else?

Here's an update on the tree piece. I have no real clue as to where this is going, and im' fearin for the worst. Any advice will receive a warm welcome.

Looking allright direction, maybe you could add some more light into figure/circle around fiqure like with overlay layer. Other thing would be to make some contrast into the bodies you have hanging over there, some more lighter and some darker and also make some feets be lower than others, now they are in same line almost. Othervise keep sailing, never be afraid of the unknown waters, dark monster be hidden in there but unimaginable treasures as well! ooH!

rumpenztiltskin: Cool, guess i googled her right then I'd like to add here that i'm always open to do commissions of everyone's favorite game/comic/anime/cereal box character. Don't be shy! Oh, and thanks for your continued support!

Quike:Fuck, i've been meaning to mail you man! Gotta make work of that. But great to have you around again, and thanks for the comment!

Nettle: I've found the monster, but not the treasure yet ...

So, everyone, thank you for the advance, but i've hit the banks with the way i've been approaching this picture, and i strongly feel i should rewind and start over on the right foot with this pic. Therefore, here are some thumbs for the reboost, which should have more rythym and more of a general principle behind the execution. And be prettier overall too. I've got to add that i'd like to go more with a screenprint sort of, a little a la these guys :

I am liking the composition on thumbnails A and F, especially A. Is that a scythe I spy her holding? Other than that, your still life studies are looking great, you're painting skills are getting much better, and I am loving the sketchbook work, in particular, these drawings.

The multiple limbs thing always looks cool, I've loved it ever since I saw Wesley Burt's sketchbooks. Keep going!

It depends on the question if she's a victim or a executioner (executioness?) First case, B and E; second case, A and D for me.

When are the epic children coming?

i really like B and E, there she could be either one, i kinda like not really knowing if she did it or not D:
in the rest she looks confident enough to be the executioner, well except D i guess..but i dont like her turning the back at us x) composition-wise i like all of them except C ...

aah, im not good at giving crits really, but i look forward to see the progress

Now you are talking, hell yeah! That's the way to approach, my suqqestion goes for B and E.

I see the image that this girl is kind of demon/witch that lures more or less innocent people to her by her charm, so cute and inviting would be in my viewpoint way to go. The beef of the image is juxtaposing of all the bodies in the tree and girl that does not belong there, so i would make the contrast between these elements. it's like you first see the girl and the tree "that's nice" nd after that notise all the bodies in the tree and start having second thoughts.

Oh well, your choise but it's getting there, i can feel it

Thanks all for your suggestions! I've had to overthink this for a second, but it's going to be B, i didn't want to stray from the original idea too much after all. Now the problem lies in the execution, the plan is to try some different approaches, digital as well analog. Or maybe just analog, we'll how things go from here. In the meantime, here's a barbarian lady i've been reworking:

Thanks rumpenstiltzkin, you don't think they look a little cheesy?

Here's a follow-up on that one picture with the tree. I'm unsure of where to go from here with it, use a more graphic approach or more painterly. I'm not feeling confident i can manage either ...

That barbarian lady looks good, proper values there between backround and subject, also i like those controversial horns.

I think you could add sharper edges to that woman in illustration, and stronger shadows as well into her? maybe also paint more details around the woman in the tree, like bark and skulls. Detail & sharpness draws eye so maybe it could work, maybe.
I would go for more painterly for now, we can do if you want next challenge an illustrational approach to image...

Thanks guys for your support on the tree picture, and for liking the horns on the barbarian lady I haven't worked on either, but instead i found some time to fill up my sketchbook. So here's the last bunch of pages from that (please don't mind the poor image quality):

Really neat tool, i highly recommend!

rumpenstiltzkin: Them's harpies, dear, harpies. But yeah, birdpeople's the same right? :p

Velocity:5*? Way too much dude, i'll settle for 4 and a half

hu-ha: Yeah, i'll skip 'em sometimes, but sometimes i'll try recuperating one if it went really south. The armoured knight in ink (the one you're referring to?) is an example of that. Think i posted the previous version some pages back.

Okay, update on tree girl. Too much saturation? Still feels choppy and incohesive with the brush marks. Oh well, gonna try seeing this fucker through.

Oh yeah, and a bonus android sketch

rumpenstiltzkin: i think you're on to something there, so i went back and changed the colour and value compositon again. It's sort of back to where i started, but this does seem more effective. Funny how these things go huh?

I've also added some doodles to make this post less empty-looking. There might ve some good ideas hidden in the thumbs.

Ace update again, i really like those curvy armour sketches and flower- kkind of clothed woman, and don't mind if i steal that green sketching idea with watercolour/quache from you, that looks super fun!
That purple guy made me feel warm inside

Anyway i made a paintover of your tree if you don't mind:

Size: 74.1 KBName: walnut_tree.jpg

I made it maybe too desaturated but i feel you have values allready in right places, you just have to get tighter, more detailed and busy in areas that you want your viewer to look at, i quess.
