I like the way you've lit it, can't wait to see it finished.
guitarjames: Yeah the drawing isn't that great, so I will need to spend some time getting a pallet together that will push the perspective more.
Fishspawn: Yeah I gotta start making some finished work.
Well this started out as a simple shape/value composition for kaoru (she wanted to draw a robot coming up from junk yard) but I really liked the idea (I've been wanting to draw a junk yard for a while now) so I decided to push this my own way. This is a wip, prob will go for a junk yard version of forest temple (that green forest speed paint).

sweet start, getting this enviro stuff down.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
junkyard forest temple!? brilliant. Much better composition this time, just make sure to include some foreground junk![]()
That last enviro is sweet, you got that value thing down! Really nice how you pushed things to the back using value.
And finish that forest enviro as well, I'd like to see (please post it bigger) some finished work from you.
Cheers!
Blue Severin: Thanks man.
Fishspawn: Yep, sure will.
fedezz:Forcing myself to finish stuff. Otherwise I won't have anything to make a portfolio with next year x___x.
Feeling a bit tired today, had work the whole day. So yeah... my "excuse" for poor quality (man I gotta kick my butt for crap like this). Will pop into your sb's tomorrow, BIG apology for not popping as often as you guys do!
Study from photo, should really use the ruler and control my values.
WIP of mushroom.

Ok anyone remember this one? Well I had a revelation today - since the A4 page wasn't looking to be enough space for the enviro, I had a genius idea of just sticky taping another A4 to it so I could extend my lines!!
This is probably my last addition to "WIP to finish list", so I'll keep working on each one until I get em done before starting on new ones.
![]()
Wow, you have so many wip enviros O_O; And you'll probably finish all of them before i finish mine XD On the japan one the perspective is all messed up, but i think you already know that. Keep up the hard work.
Fishspawn: Yeah, perspective all over the place. It was great to loosen up a bit however. Oh, I still have 4 more enviro ideas to work on, but I'm leaving those until after I make this batch.
Well wip of junk yard chronicles, the sky kinda dimished half the perspective and scale, will have to fix it up next wip.

make sure that path doesn't get too predictable, it'll kill the dynamic work you've got going on so far. Other than that looks pretty good.

hey ,
i really like the scrapyard but i think you could bring the values down as i preffered it when it was darker . You could add some really nice black silouhetes in the bg too.
keep it up .james.

Looking good, i like the concept. Pay attention to what those two said. Also, the pillars coming up near the top of the path are all the same height, it would be more interesting if some went higher/lower than the temple. Keep rocking.
Blue, james, fish : Man thanks guys, it looks to be a tricky path going from something really loose to something more refined. Gotta make sure I don't loose the original feel (or at least not make it worse).
Well, I'm brain dead today. But! I'm updating my sb because, well I can't loose the pace even for one day. So some thumbnails today. (Pardon the lack of quality recently, I think I just need to recover a bit),

fantastic and inspiring stuff man ^_^
You know I always enjoy that kind of pageI'd love to see more ideas for the crystal chamber, that could be a cool digipaint... you know, when you have time. Keep it up, you're definately getting better.
Hyptosis: Glad to hear I inspire people!
Fishspawn: Ohh, sorry I forgot! Gonna post more of them then.
Umm I had life drawing today, but it's also INTERNATIONAL SELF PORTRAIT DAY. So here's mine: (damn, I had a grand vision but the result is crummy per usual), used photo ref, done today (as per rules).
I'll put up the life drawing tomorrow, I need some sleep right now.
Hey. I think you should be studying the skull/facial planes/how it connects to the neck. I will keep reccomending bridgeman until i see some! But yeah. learn the facial/head anatomy really well and it will not only improve your ability to draw realistically, but your animu as wellOnly problems i see with that would be easily fixed with some studies of the head. Rawr, keep it up.
Fishspawn: "Bridgman'S Complete Guide To Drawing From Life" Is this the one you're referring to?
Ok life drawing from yesterday:
Longer stuff:
Ok todays update, coloured one of the poses cos I liked it:

Yep, thats the one. Those figure drawings are fantastic, much improvement over the last ones. Keep it up.
Fishspawn: Thanks man, I'll get them Bridgmans studies in soon.
Ok everyone, I'm going for a trip to Sydney for a few days (till 8th). So I won't be able to update till then most probably. My moleskine is coming with me, so I'll try to get a visual diary thing going!
Till then everyone, take care and keep working hard!

likewise, have fun in the city.

A little more contrast in that one and it would seriously rock. Have fun in sydney!
I have to agree with everyone here, much improvement on those figures!
Have fun in Sydney!

I dig that last one. Can't wait to see your sketches from your trip.
Nice work recently. Don't let your cartooning sensibilities affect your life studies.
Blue Severin:.
Fishspawn: Ok, yeah bit more contrast.
fedezz: Thanks man!
guitarjames: Ok will keep that in mind.
Punchy: Gotta disappoint you, not many sketches were done.
Listing: Ok I'll do my best.
Ok well I'm back, stayed there a bit longer. Had an amazing time! (been back for 2 days now, just first day was dead and second day had work which didn't help me recover). I did draw a tiny bit, but I will only post a few things up as others are personal/no interest for you guys. I plan on going back there in jan, so I will draw more then.
Well to get the ball rolling again ...
