Introduction: (if you care to read about me)
    Hello there,

I've been meaning to join this place for a while, but have been too scared... Anyway I guess I should give an introduction about myself:

My name is Pavel , I'm currently a university student down in Australia. I've never really took art seriously until I graduated school. So throughout my childhood I've been playing games, reading books (I love sci-fi) and making websites. It's been a bit more than 2 years since I've taken up drawing (started 2004), so I've been trying to work hard so I can catch up to everyone. I like drawing anime/manga and sci-fi stuff. I also like to do some life landscape drawings.

    edit:
Well, I had some crap here written about how I'm gonna post my rough work here and such, but in fact I'll post most things here. I'll keep this bit, you see I come from deviantART - my deviantART gallery, but I'm not quite sure why I didn't join CA earlier. Who knows, I might have been a much better artist now.

Halos Chain: Thank you! Btw, I'm usually known as "rayk", but some one had that already here so I chose the second variant of "raykart".

bhanu: Haha yeah, after finishing school life has become so much better . Thank you for spotting typo >__< (I'm such a shocker with them). Thanks for your comment.

I'll try posting here as much as I can !

I will also probably reply in "batch" mode, so that I don't spam the forum with my sketchbook :|)

Guh time flyies... haven't had too many chances to do much work, but here i s sketch " bus stop: cloud shop". Been very inspired by - http://tksn.web.infoseek.co.jp/ empire boys work. I really love those enviromental art he has.

Well here is the sketch, gonna paint it when I get a chance (pardon the random japanese, it's more or less self learning practice):

    Hey rayk!

Nice to see you updating finally!

Not bad, but the anatomy is looking a bit shaky in your pics, even accounting for the stylisation. Watch out for cutting the backs off skulls as well.

I'd love to see a few life studies and gestural scribbles thrown in here. Let's see some more updates eh?

    Ok more updates are here!

sue: Thanks! I'm trying to find some life drawing classes in my area currently, so I hope I'll have some life drawing to post soon.

Anyway here are some new stuff from me:

Title page for my sketchbook, have mixed views on it Gonna colour with copics when I get the chance, might improve it a tad from it's current state.

Some environment stuff, the drawing kinda grew out of a house I was doodling in the upper left corner. Pretty happy with the result, might make a painting using a part of it at some later time.

That's about it for now, will try to get more stuff happening.

Your first image (sb banner) has to be my favorite. That last enviroment is looking good too, perhaps it needs a more assertive and clean linework, like the one you used in your weapon's ortho.
Keep 'em coming and welcome to the SSG!

Welcome to the SSG! I like your linework. Work on hands and realistic proportions - both will greatly improve your stylized work. Keep drawing and update often!

Welcome to the SSG! I like the style (anime though it is). Try some full body shots and see where your anat stands at. I read about the anatomy dysfunctions and that can be taken care of with a few references from either Louis Gordon, Stephen R. Peck, or Loomis.

Again, welcome and try to update everyday...will help you alot

Updates!!! w00t! I had a big assignment due in yesterday hence why I couldn't update earlier. Well to the new stuff!

I'm gonna put stuff in order of completion so from oldest to newest.

This is just random organic study, plus trying copics out in the moleskine (forgot to spray fixative before using them... so colours got mudled a bit). Spore inspired!

Ok, now some more enviro! This time with animu included ! It's called morning dialogue cos the girl is talking with that bird thing (think rodent, mixed with bird that can swim) if you can see it (should have punched the values on the bird..) Some place as the other one. I'm kinda tired of sci-fi right now .

guitarjames: cheers! I try to draw everyday now .. anatomy is yeah... an issue

fedezz: Will work on having cleaner lines and more assertion!

Fishspawn: hands, yeah those things annoy me!!!

Everyone else, thanks guys! Will try to keep this as update regularly as I can! Sometimes course work has other ideas on what my free time should be used on .

The second pic is cute, the first enviro I'll admit isn't convincing me. I think some studies of real landscapes and botanics will help. The plants just don't look...planty enough.

    Keep it up Rayk. ^^

Ok updates!!! Nothing really that ground braking, but it's better then nothing ne?

This is a quick drawing I did to show how to work in perspective for one of my friends artworks (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=75164), but I kinda put a funny spin on it which gave me a few ideas. Very rough, but I will keep working this idea up when I get time.

Was doing one of my shape drawing warm up exercises last night, I only spend a few minutes on them usually (just drawing basic squares and such to get my arm flowing), but this one kinda grew and ended up investing about an hour or so in it (and going to bed late when I had a 5am get up ).

Well that's about it, I have another drawing which I started in my moleskine so I might be able to finish it soon. Oh shameless plug, but please welcome my friend who's joined up CA!! - Shakken's SB

well looks good , nothing to crit on the first one as it more of a explanation , but on the secod one i think you could push the values and leace less white, also the cat looks as if hes about to fall off unless hes suposed to be doing that?

Yeah, more updates to my スケッチュー ブック ロル~!

*ahem* anyway it's more my bad stuff update then good, but bad art is part of learning too!!!

guitarjames: That's that highest the HB values will go on that paper, I happened to make a mistake of buying really cheapo paper album so now I'm trying to use it up by doodling and warming up on it. (the paper sucks so much that the HB looks like H or 2H pencil).

Fishspawn, Punchy: Thanks guys, will try to keep the artworking flowing in. But some times it might not be that great as today one...

    Ok time for the sketches!

This is a doodle I did today while watching a feng dvd "quick sketching" (love my uni library), nothing much but thought it kinda had a cool idea there.

I've started on this one few days ago, but ended up ruining it... I ended up playing around with different techniques and approaches to much, so I should prob hold on to going so heavy. Well good learning experience.

I got around to colouring my moleskine sketchbook title page! But while I think it looks better now, I somehow ended up totally ruining the eyes . I also wish I lived in asia so I didn't need to import copic sketch markers from usa!!! くそ! Lol I love how awfully wrong the arm is

Well that's all for now, hope I can make some better stuff to post next time, sorry if I dissapointed anyone... I tried my best, but not always you get the results that you want.

ohh you have a really cute style... what i'm seeing a lot of though, is just bust shots of anime characters. i know maybe it's not the style you're going for, but a bit more lifedrawing would do much good. some finished digital stuff also?

    hey there again!

Nice to see you updating again so soon.

On the last batch - the coloured anime girl has a few anatomical issues. Her arm holding the paintbrush looks both bowed and too long and her eyes are a bit off.

Also with your machines, adding a bit more value to the pic will help give them form and weight.

Yes I know I'm repeating myself and every one else, but a life study or few would be awesome too.

Good to see you working hard though.

Put me on the list of rayk-should-life-draw-ites. Ahem. I think you could fix that middle drawing by darkening up some parts really black, if you wanted to. Keep up the drawing, good or bad it will help you improve!

Ok, some minor updates! (Mainly cos I wanted to show my nude from ref drawing).

Cwn Annwn: Yeah, I realised how broken that artwork was after I applied fixative to it. I think the colour helped it a tiny bit.

tie, Fishspawn, Cwn Annwn: Life drawing is coming on 7th!! If all goes to plan !!!

    Ok now for some art!

This is a doodle I did, I kinda like some of the ideas going on there. The stick figure in the upper left is gonna be a charecter drawing I'm gonna do soon. Oh and I've been working on drawing straight lines freehand!

This is a photo of my drawing desk, I mainly use it for copics, sculping and anything else that requires lots of room. Otherwise I draw and doodle infront of my comp.

Well that's all for now, been trying to draw everyday! Even if it's a 2cm x 2cm drawing.
