your paintings are getting top-notch now. I especially like the dramatic use of light and shade ... effective but not overpowering the details. Keep it up, I'll certainly be checking back.

Really great stuff in here lately. You always have wonderful lighting on your paintings, and tonal patterns. I really need to learn to paint...

I can't really think of any critiques. Just keep posting, I see only great things in this thread.

love your character studies. you've got a good eye for value, looks very confident. I don't like those textured backgrounds on some of your finished stuff, too distracting/boring. Just out of curiosity do you do these digital paintings quickly, or do you fuss over them?

    oalexis: thanks!

    dkounios: Thank you very much

chromaticcodex: The textured backgrounds are getting old, but everyone asks for them . I usually do like 3-5 digital paintings a day because I work a lot so I do them pretty quick. I usually dont fuss, I kinda just mirror it and try to find all my flaws. But yea, thanks for not liking those backgrounds, I dont either anymore haha.

I really like your characters!Ummm...but the last two seems to be cut and paste if you look at the edges.Maybe if the light of the background reflects in the character....

jedininjaman: I would do an action piece on my own time but I just dont have any time thanks though

camara: Yea I know, but they just want the character on the background, figured if I put any reflective light it wouldn't show the design as good. Kinda just like concept plus background deal.

Ashab: well hopefully soon somebody will ask me to do a full background haha, that'd be a nice change, doing some scenessssss. Thanks though!

Heres another concept for the role playing book, trying to get a good solid design down, I'm waiting for him to choose one he likes haha

Agggh, I always see this sb but forget to comment. Forgive my tardiness :p

Fantastic stuff in here, really nice characters and the portrait was cute. Would really like to see more movement. Your characters are great, but they don't do much Playing around with movement and rhythm might be fun?

    Keep up zee gud verk.

EDIT: whoops, didn't know these were comishes, and they needed to be just kinda standin around. Here's hoping for some more action

I'm lovin your character designs man. When you do them do you block down the values from scratch or do a quick bit of line art first, then fill it in. Just looking for tips on digital colouring.

Also any help on my own humble sketchbook would be appreciated.

Keep this stuff up man its looking great. especially that last piece. Loving the face.

    Miles.

Rhineville: Thanks! I wish I could do movement stuff, everyone keeps telling me my stuff is too stiff , but theres nothing I can do about it now haha.

spazazo: When I do a basic outfit design I just do a form drawing, put a layer over it, then fill spaces in black then go in with a 20% eraser and start to fill in the details. I usually have a basic idea of what I want it to look like in my head before I go about it. But I try to leave it open to whatever new designs will appear to me in the black shapes ha. for my color stuff I just do a sketch then put a layer over it and work out all the details. After that I put a layer under it and do a base color then a layer over the lines and just flesh it out.

    Hope that helps!
