I am still working on it, and thought I'd post it here and see if I could get any input, crits, and/or suggestions. I like it so far, but I'm still learning to paint in Painter and Photoshop. I like how the eye turned out too.

Decided to add more darks to the shaded areas by adjusting the brightness and contrast of the image...I think it looks better now. Any opinions?

Well, I think that doing the dark/light adjustment to that degree is not working. I think you would have a MUCH better peice if you go back in and develope your shadow area's naturally. Maybe use some greens and browns in the shadow's, with some dark blue in the deepest shadow's. Pay attention to the different shadow types (depending on the actual effect that you want), however, as it is now, I do not think that dark/light adjustment is the answer..........THAT is just a quick fix.

evildragonfire - Thank you for the advice. I did feel kind of cheap using the Brightness/Contrast controls to do the last rendition. But I have the painting in all phases, so i'm going to try what you suggested. I really want this piece to contrast light and dark heavily. I want it to be brooding and pissed off. Thank you for the input. I'll update as soon as I work on it some more later today after I get some sleep.

Hehe........kool. I do think using the brightness/contrast button in this way is a severe shortcut. The shadows should allways be developed naturally to create a strong peice, especially in the emotion you are trying to convey. Good luck, and keep us posted.

I know it's a bit late now, but the profile and dead-on view of a face or body is usually the least exiting and has a greater chance of becoming quite flat.
