First thread, First concept. Hello everyone!

    Hello ConceptArt.org,

I'd just like to say this site is incredibly interesting and inspiring, cliche not intended. I'll cut the crap short - here is my first piece of official 'concept' art, (i think?) which took me about 2 days on and off to draw.

I used a 4B and HB pencil with one of those special rubbers that come apart, specifically designed to reach those hard to reach places!

I was inspired to draw this after watching the LOTR's Fellowship Of The Ring and listening to 'Concerning Hobbits', a track from the LOTR soundtrack. My aim was to bring out the expression of a 'concerned hobbit'.

    Please, constructive criticism welcomed!

    Here is what i noticed:
His left eye is very wonky compared to his right,
Lip and nose proportions are out,
His hair is not always where it should be... There's probably more that i havnt noticed - which is why im here!

Thanks and i hope you like it.

It is often helpful to post no larger than 800x600. That way, folks can see the whole piece without scrolling around.

    skull

There isnt realy any skull structure at all. All you need to do , is find yourself a good skull...study it draw it and document it ..you'll find there are simple formulas for drawing portraits.

Pretty much all there is to say. Draw faces from a reference and study its underlying structure to improve your skills. I know we say that to everyone, and I know it seems like it doesn't help but it DOES:

After trying to draw my own face for 4 months I notice that it's easier for me to create a face without any reference at all, since the realistic look of an eye or a nose is starting to be engrained into my brain.
