The Starfish Enterprise in the Nebula of Sheep

A somewhat abstract piece about the Starfish Enterprise in the Nebula of Sheep. If anyone's ever wondered about what I dream about sometimes... this is it.

For the Enterprise i used a USS Constitution 3D model made in 3D Studio Max by George Mezori and Jason Lee. I used it to create a basic breakdown and dimensions and then (YES THAT CAN BE CALLED TRACING) had my way with it.

The rest just came out of my dreams...

I normally dont trace but the enterprise is something you just have to get the dimensions right to get that 'beauty shot'. I also have the balls to admit it unlike some people who come up with fancy dancy terms for it

Also I dont think the small version does it justice - take a look at the big version of the file. I work with 300 dpi canvases.

    Materials Used:

    Alias Sketchbook Pro 2.0
    3d Studio Max
3d Model of the Enterprise (http://scifi3d.theforce.net/download...ey=635&key=402)
Lots and Lots of Earl Grey Tea
My Cat that kept on jumping on my lap.

    lol, classic.

Done with this? Critiqued as a finished piece I'd say there's so much more you could have done; colour, attempt at an actual starfield... addition of values or contrast, smoother lines...

The idea and composition is ok, but the absence of the aesthetic qualities mentioned above doesn't let the idea or composition become strong enough visually.

Maybe work at it some more?

    Good start and happy drawing.
