All artists out their makes you tick? How do you decide what your going to draw or your next piece of artwork is going to be? Do you draw based on mood and feelings you have or just what you see?

I had ticks once. It hurts when you pull them out!
First, I think about a mech. Then, I think about another mech. After that is done, I move onto the crucial step: Thinking about a mech with guns.
Es fließt durch meine Venen, Es schläft in meinen Tränen
Es läuft mir aus den Ohren, Herz und Nieren sind Motoren
B00bs, pr0n, fap, draw.

My head is so full it hurts, so I try to get as much out and onto paper as possible...

also quite grim and depressing. I mean, sure it's true, but isn't there still a glimmer of enjoyment that you paint for Elwell? Don't you ever do personal work? Why always with the all-business 'tude? That's gotta be the best answer to any question I've ever seen on here.

SOTC, there's one of the best times i've ever had playing videogames... moments where you have to jump out of your seat and stand just to get the next move right. moments like that make me tick.
but mostly,
the desire to inspire and entertain, and make my mark.
Jeez, Dave, of course. It's all there in my sig. I love making pictures more than anything I can imagine. And I love being an illustrator, with all that entails. I love being asked to paint something I never in a million years would think to do myself. I love the challenge of finding something to grab hold of in even the seemingly most non-inspiring jobs. I love working with art directors, designers, and authors. I love research. And I especially love when everything comes together, and you just know that you have the solution for a given problem, and the A.D. is great, and the painting seems like it's painting itself, and there's that moment when it seems like everything has taken a terrible turn and it's going to be a disaster, but somehow you pull it off...Originally Posted by DavePalumbo
I love that.
And it's all personal work, from drawing in my sketchbook to the seemingly most anonymous corporate job. There's no deep seated burning artistic impulse that somehow isn't satisfied in my professional work, at least not yet. I've gotten to do far more artistically than I ever could have imagined in my career, and look forward to seeing what happens next.
That should be enough damned passion to keep you going for a while...![]()
