    city cranes

a little quick painting I did this morning to work on using blocky brushes and textures.

Was trying to focus on silhouette and shape, trying not to get into painting details with a small brush.

used some photo reference as a base.

Please, any critiques or help on using texture would be great.

I think its quite readable and convincing anyhow the sky could be in some places more whiter, I like the horizontal lines is that your own style or somebody's elses style you tried there ?

    yeah,

i was noticing after I posted, the sky could be a bit brighter and maybe a bit more blurred.

Not going after any bodies style in particular. Mostly trying to get comfortable using the textured brushes to quickly render ideas out.

I really wanted to try to keep it loose and still have it read well.

I'm definately influenced by people like sparth, barontierrie, and craig mullins.

I really like their use of brush stroke and texture to render their pieces.

yes they are quite great, its a bit hard to be mingling here as an inexperienced artist and NOT to get influenced by them 8)

so yes if you blur the sky and even erase some blots for clowdy effect then that be it, then again its sketching out so you want to leave it alone when feels like it (kind of like warming up to paint something more serious ?)
look I dont know why I love you I just do
