Arrow ..__Sculptures, (speed) 3D creatures, characters & alien things__..

Real sculptures somewhere in the middle of this threat

Like u see i'm just new in the world of 3D, so i'm learning and learning.
I do 3D animation, so i want to focus more on characters now.
I found out ZBrush fits with my style (organic and sculpture like freedom)
So i want to finaly combine animation with ZBrush stuff.

Here are some ZBrush works, most of em are still in concept though.
Learned texturing not so long ago so i can finaly start finish em more.
Time to time i play with ZBrush, realy luv that program!
Try to get a bit of a grip on ZBrush as wel as on Maya, and those combined

Some tips n crits would be cool, as i just have about half year/ year experience

Some Zbrush older stuff, still want to rig the two hand/ feeted scorpion like thing sometime,
make him alive. Could be realy funny how it moves, and what it's stronger points are hehe

One of my first ZBrush work:

    Hope u like m

Very rough concept, I goana cal her Leavy shes a living sort of plant organism.
Planning on rigging her, and maybe make her animation ready with the handles etc.

I'm happy with the texture already, though it's all still in concept.
Maybe i should first design and then work things out in 3D i don't know,
Looks a bit to messy right now. Just new about normalmaps, maya and ZBrush combined so...

Question to someone with an already good animation experience.
Does transparancy maps make ur character real slow to render?
Planning on make the leaves like that, for a more real look/ semi real.

Just don't know jet, and i'm also working on too many things at the same time Aargh i want too Much! lOl

    hey,

for your first 3d adventure you`ve learned very fast.
if you mean transperancy like glass with refraction index and so on.. yes, it makes a rendering realy slow. so never use this for your normal test renderings if you only want to check the geometrie of your model. or you do something else in the next hours

i like the idea of the two handed scorpion creatur and this char is the best realized of yours.
on the others i like the mouth the most it isn`t the easiest part.
but you`ve make bulges in areas where muscles lie. the skin in these areas is flat if they havn`t a horny one. the eye area is also not correct, theres just a too thin skinned hole. there`s no lid or something else which give you a feeling of skin.

but as i said, you learn very fast. so push you harder, you`re on the right way!

Thanx for that great reply what i mean with transperancy is more like
leaves with an alpha map used, so u get a more real looking leaf with the
cutted edges etc. Is that make ur render take much longer?
As for animating u have to finaly render a whole lot renders so thats why my question hehe.

Ur totaly right about the eyes, they are weird. Have to practice em i think.
It's all from my head, maybe i should also use some reference for some parts.
Especialy if it comes to muscles etc
But first some more face realy like to do them, putting character in it etc.

Okay then i try on the alphas soon

This is my first rigged model, low poly (exept the face is a bit mid-poly)

    Aargh those hands!
Not realy happy with it, but learned alot with it, like texturing, rigging, handles, blendshapes etc.

Hope u like m, and finaly find some improvement in my 3D skills

    hi jero =)

congrats for your first rig, the face is very cool!

but i have crits for the secon one. as i said yesterday, you have to give him smooth muscle areas as a contrast to your sharp bones and bulges.
you can take a lot of muscles from human for your creature.
your char stand all the time on his hands, so he needs a strong neck, strong shoulders and breasts (gymnasts). for the scorpion like bodypart he needs hard and fast belly muscles. because of his raptor like hands he looks very fast-strongly, so take for his arms thin muscles and not the fat ugly ones because he need condition for his long walks (marathon).

ask yourself, what can he do and look at some kind of sportsmen, who agree with your idea.

hope it helps and good night ;o)

    Great reply again thanx!
The second one could be a total new creature yeah, have it low poly (my first blender model!) So i think, if i have some time , that i start over and try to use ref, walk through the things u mentioned, and make him more realistic, anatomicaly speaking
Though i first did'nt want to make m human like/ earty like, i did'nt realy spend time researching for this one. But now couse of ur great reply, this all sounds clear and logic Jep i'm lazy sometimes haha.

    Thanx again
