    3d char concepts

    hello guys,

i`m around here since months particularly in the sketchbooks which i love dearly, but was never confident enough to post something on this great board.
i began one and a half year ago with cinema 3d and since my start i was fascinated by character art.
i often don`t take the time to texture my chars and finish a picture, because i think, to learn more about anatomie, expression and animation is more importent for me (at this point).

i hope you guys can help me with advice and crits so i can find my way.

    some pics:

that are chars for a larger project from concept to final. they should be cute, sexy and hip-hop dresses for a breakdance session in a backyard.
i was realy, realy surprised how heavy it is, to make clothes..

updates will be come soon. thanks for watching

Agreed with Asoir, the feet seem in proprtion to the rest of a the body a little too small.
Also, the fingers, arms and legs' shapes seem to be a little improper, they're a little to straight, like cyllinders. The calf area of the leg bows out, the thigh usually has more of a roundness, defining the knee more. On the forearm, the definition on the top of the arm near the joint seems odd to me. Generally, you have a great start here, just need to go in and modify your loops to reflect the proper topology. Take a look at some side and front views of real people and compare them to your model.

I realize that these are stylized, which is awesome, but more accurate anatomy would help the visual appeal a lot.

    hey,

thanks a lot both of you for the kind words and the crit.

you are right with your crits for the first pic. there are undefined or wrong muscles, thats why im not satisfied with. unfortunately it`s not possible to correct the mesh. i`ve to make it new (it`s faster) and if there is time, i will do so.

I realize that these are stylized, which is awesome, but more accurate anatomy would help the visual appeal a lot.
thats a statement and your right! i will fix hands and feet of the ladys.

    thanks again and good night

Great concepts here! Did u learned the 3D prog by urself, of do u also follow lessons at an art school? Like the others say, about the proportions. I see the anatomy is'nt totaly correct. With these sort of 3D stuff it all about the anatomy. Thats what i also found out since working in 3D (almost a year now ) I allready like these, it's just that they could use a little finetune to make em just a bit stronger hehe

    Keep it up

    thanks for the flowers =)

no i dont study, i learn through try and error, because i like it the most and have no money for a higher school.
there are also enough tutorials for a faster learning process but i want to understand what i do, why its functioned that way and why the edgeloops are there and there. try and error gives me the freedom to learn per punishment. it takes longer but if you lose ten hours in front of your pc on a shiny summer day, during your friends are on the beach or drinking some cold beer, you never make it twice wrong.

i`ve watched your sketchbook and it rocks. with your imagination is zbrush the right choice for you. a month ago i bought it too, but its still unused because i haven`t finished the modeling.

i will check you SB more often in the future, there are freaking cool creatures.

    ciao =)

    hi,

and thanks for your reply. the groupproject with the girls have to wait. my partner have no time, because he wants to go into independence and have to solve several economy stuff..

that and cause my life is going more down than up, i`m gone back to the roots and make something suffering. the challenge was the technology stuff, i never made that before. and because its boring, i want to make it more organic. i hope you see, what i mean.

very wipish. nevertheless my old pc is near to burn down..

    ciao mates

i dont like the head version, so i started a new cyborg model. i want to finish first the hole body. it took a lot of time, because i want to make it as much real in anatomy as it is possible for my limited skills.

    i hope it works better.

Great models, nice and clean. I can see your anatomy is much better than mine .

I like the hiphop girl, just having a feeling that the hands could be slightly bigger. Or maybe it's just the fingers that are too thin? I am not sure. Perhaps if you can figure out what basis we humans judge hand size by (wrist size?), then you can nail the stylization.

The lateast WIP is looking good.

thanks a lot mentler and meatsworthy i appreciate your comments and crits!!

a lil entry of a celebrety contest. we`ve to model j. travolta. hmpf.. i didn`t reach the goal that good but he`s nevertheless the most solid head i`ve modeled so far. in that case i`m quite happy, but not satisfied :/

it`s unfinished, but i hope to come to an end soon. maybe you mates can help whats wrong with the face of him.

It does look a lot like him... maybe some eyebrows would help. Lack of eyebrows throw me off from time to time.

    thanks for your comments.

    @meatsworthy
eyebrows und hair will come. i think a to long time about his face expression and how to model the hair. i simply should do it.

thanks a lot for your honest crit!

    @})i({

there`re two options. with the trial of cinema you can do anything you want except saving. try it out and if you want it you can buy a study licence (?) for just 150? (i think). it`s not that much and you have a fullversion.

OR you look at blender.org. it`s open source and it is as high developed as cinema is. the only bad thing is the renderer. but everything else is as good or better as cinema/max.

just a litle update. i`ll not use the gun.

I don't usually come to the 3D section, but really strong work you've got.
I recognized travolta before I saw what you wrote so guess that's good!

    hey good stuff!
    the anatomy improves per post!

and wouldnt it be cool to slowly build the guys hand up, and when he has the finger on the trigger, he shoots himself and you have to model the damadge haha

cool stuff and keep at it !
love the hunched over guy, very fleshy feel to it!

hey hurricane, i didn`t saw your reply here, sry for the late answer.

yeah i did the hand for travolta, but i`ve probs with his hair. i don`t want to finish something that looks shitty :/

i`ve realized too that i`ve a lot of problems in anatomy. i don`t want to use any patterns when i create something so i must do more exercises and train my eyes.. that`s the reason for the female char. i had a lot of probs with the breast area of the upperbody but i hope it`s ok now.

my ears are open for any crits!

No crits for you, at present. Your work shows improvement. It is good that you are focusing so heavily on the modeling without as much worry over texturing yet. I think that will serve you well.

    That hand is lovely, btw.

hi guys, long time no see

i had some problems with my situation yet. i didn`t find a place to study and have to work further in that hard sucking tax office with that flat shaded personalitys.. either universitys were behind good and evil with their quality or priceless.

I was forced to reflect, to think about what my goals are, where the way should go.. the answer i found for my self is that i have to learn to finish stuff even i like it or not..

here`s the finished modeling, texturing came soon. it`s not the highest zbrush lvl you see there. i didn`t layed out the uv`s yet, cause i have export and reimport problems with it.

    cheers
