16 year old tablet I got from a flea market.

What a fantastic find. A tablet older than alot of the users on this site!
From 1990. The "SummaSketch3 : The World's Best Selling Graphics Tablet". It cost me 3 dollars, and I bought it because I'm considering it as an antique. Haha

    It's massive!

It also comes with this funny mouse that has cross-hairs on it.

1 level of ressure sensitivty I'm not even sure if it would work anymore. Floppy disk software.

LOL. I had something similar to that ages ago, but I was incredibly young and only remember tracing a snowman with it and being disappointed that it didn't look like it. Back in the day...

ha, nice find. i used these or a similar one in a architecture and urban design office as a trainee, to digitize maps. there was a transparant sheet so that you could trace directly over the paper map - as the cad software wouldnt yet import digital images.

A friend of mine actually gave me an old tablet that looked exactly like that (mighta been the same). Had the same color correction tool thing. Floppy (real floppies, mind you... no 3.5" here) drivers and everything.

I even tried to make it work. That didn't go so well.

(it even had bit-switches on the side... wow)

Heh I love the way the buttons look like they're arranged into a NFPA 704 diamond, like it's trying to warn you that if you jab the buttons to hard acid spurts out.

    That is quite a find

in that first photo it looks like there is some type of Ipod / speaker thingy rising up like a king cobra behind you, ready to strike. Danger Danger Danger!

    Does it have a stylus?

You owe it to everyone here to buy an old computer and draw something totally sweet with that. Because it would rock.

The "LOL" written on the box is even funnier to me, because I don't believe the term "LOL" even existed in 1990.

A tablet older than alot of the users on this site! From 1990
and when you put it that way... I feel very weird. Not old at all, just weird.

yah i had a monster just like it. got it new when i was 12. cant remember the brand, i think it was a who-flung-dung thingo. had a cord running from the pen to the tablet, 1 lvl of sensitivity (well, 2.. on or off), and weighed about 3298742kg's. had a mouse just like it too. even though i got it in 98, i think it even paled in comparrison to technology of your new acquisition

oh, and dave, i think the LOL was written after the photo was taken.. probably not with the tablet in question, as it would appear to have varying opacities

obviously. how could it have been written before it was coined?

Dude... my father invented a digitizer that he and his partner sold to Logitech... I think in the late 80's... it had that same type of cross-hairs mouse and a stylus. No pressure sensitivty... just on or off... Very similar... although I think theirs was tabletless... there were just two sensors you set up on either side of your desk.

...Did a similar thing with a Z-axis mouse that they sold to Logitech...

Hmmmm... maybe I should title this post "Non-Sequitor"...
