the last face sketches and and simple character renderings are looking really good mate, impressive indeed. You've got such a nice simplicity to your design, and I mean clean cuts and good balance, not overdetailed like a lot of concepts today. THe environments have too few colours in my very personal opinion but they are moving along nicely.
    Always an inspiration man, cheers!

Holy smokes, man! I just skipped from your first page to your last few pages, and your work has gotten so much better! I am speechless. Everything from the coloring to drawing to simply making things look round and solid blows me away. Way to go!

Mrbloober- Thank you! I´m glad all the hard work pays off. No shortcuts.
    Ravenslayer- Thanks dude, I will!

Man, your sketches are out of this world. So good! :0
Did you ever see the sketches of a french artist named Claire Wendling? I picked up two of her artbooks from amazon.fr, they're great although I'm not that into some of her renderings, often the sketch will be better. She does the best sketches I've ever seen, but you're not far behind ;D

Well well! You're going as strong as ever I see old chap. I'm loving the last piece, it connects with your early stuff, back in the course days, but at the same time is so much better and refined!

The life drawings smack of awesome. Always been a sucker for bold lines. Dang accurate, too, I say.

    Keep rocking sire.

hey mate, glad to see you updating again!

the white bg on the musclemen is really working with the graphical design on the piece and shows off the great silhouette.
I like how you've placed his foot firmly on the ground, shows a lot of weight and power.

I think that you can take it one step further though, polish the pants and adjust the perspective in the leg guard, work in some texture to the belt.
It works fine the way it is but I just think you can take it up a notch.

Looking forward to seeing the badguy as well mate, take care now and get hired ^^

    Cheers

hey man! thanks for the crits man!
lets see if i can help too

really liking your latest work, i really envy your digifreak skillz .
The guy in post 393 looks like some unit from a game called confrontation, do you know it?
In that particular pic i would have given him a reduced rim light in some areas, and i would have give it a different composition (vertical maybe), cause that front light is screaming for a big shadow behind the knight imho (maybe projcted on a rock or giant statue or something conveniently placed behind the character), just to add the drama.

The anatomy sheet for your portfolio look very,VERY good. Are they your personal studies or did you use another artist as reference.Just love those drawings.

About the lord of Ice and Motherfuckin' heavy metal.
I agree with Buckster about the fact he has a good, strong silhouette, but i don't agree about the white background.A gradient of some kind just to give the sky some depth could help..and i was wondering, have you ever tried using texture/photo overlays. If used in a subtle way, i think they can enrich a picture a lot. Some cloud in the bg would make than mother fucker even more epic. The ground he's standing on could se some more depth too, i think.
About the character itself (these are just personal taste i guess) i would have added a level or "brightess" on his white tattoo, to make it pop even more...either a brighter line inside it, or some kind of glow. And o his hammer, those engravings are screaming for some form imho...just some shade or light to make 'em pop a bit.

About the badguy, i'd personally dithc the third, lower horn, and change the shape of the horns..maybe trying different options...

but all this is really nitpicking , those were just my 2 cents
You're doing very nice work , you people are an excelletn sketchbook group

    keep sharing,
    ciao!

Ok, I´m not going to be lengthy now, but I´ll make sure to give proper replies at my earliest convenience. Short version, Thanks for the critique, especially you Gnoll. I´ve been cleaning my apartment full time for the past three days as I´m moving out tomorrow. It might take me a little while to get settled and I´ll be sure to post more when I do.

Pfft, if he's heavy metal, then he needs chick hair and a train wreck face.

Spikes too, lots of spikey armor...maybe platform shoes too.

Well, on a real critiquing note, this may just be me, but he seems a bit too dark. You sorta lose detail in his pants and gauntlets. I also think because of the bright white background, it pushes the dark of the clothing darker. I personally have no problem with the white background, it's just the character doesn't seem to belong to bright white. He's all dark and moody.
    Just my 2 cents.

Although, it does put to mind some of Samwise's Hammerfall album art cover, which had similar subject matter. A guy with a big hammer in an icy, mountainy area.

Oh this is pretty stuff...wow, man...just beautiful work. I have to say that some of my favorite stuff from here is from post #399...that's just incredible stuff...gorgeous figures...great form. Love the last enviro as well...so joyous. I totally want to be there. Stellar work. I can't wait for more now...
Seeing the wip of that last piece was a delight, by the way, thank you for that. Uhm...I wish I could see something to critique...but I can't see anything. I would like to see more of what you can do with a pencil, though...

awseome stuff man - love this sketchbook!

its great to see the process for the hammergodbloke - the only thing i would say about it is maybe the hammer is a little unrefined, design-wise - at the moment it looks like a stereotypical 'block on a stick' hammer when with a little bit more attention it could stand out a bit more as an object in its own right...

really loving your stuff tho, espec the anatomy stuff and this post sums up everything that is great with the world

    cant wait to see updates

Thank you for the comments everyone!

Ok, so it´s been a while. I got a job in the games industry, and I´ve really wanted to focus on my tasks at work, thereof my lack of posting here. I´m going to try to be a bit more regular in the future.

First a Tom (idiot apathy) fanart. He´s a huge source of inspiration of mine. '

and an uninspired portrait. (lol @ eyes)

Crazy3dman- Thanks dude, I got a job as a concept and texture- artist. I cant reveal the name of the company yet though =( I´ll tell as soon as I´m allowed.

Buck- Thanks my buddy! I´m trying I think I kinda feel the same way he does ^^

just some crummy silhouettes today. I usually find that if i can create some interesting shapes at this level, my design gets interesting in the end. Rendered the middle one a bit more.
