wow man this last one really starts to bring your knowlage together. I can see that it is not finished yet but when you work on it please focuse on the texture and feel of the cloth, just so you dont forget. I would love to see some process shots of this if you have them. Ncie volume as well. The fleshy tones around the mouth are great, add some of that to the chest area as well and tie things up and you will take a giant leap forward.

Glad to see you posting on a regular basis again mate, keep at it and kick some major butt!

    Cheers

    Chewster- Yarr Thx.

Flaskpost- Thanks buddy! Vilket var ditt bidrag?

Buckster- Hey m8! Thanks alot! My thoughts exactly. I looked at it again and realized the cloth was shit, so I redrew the whole thing. I also pushed the colours a bit. I was a bit afraid of detailing the chestmucles too much since i wanted focus in the face, bad excuse ;P. I´ll post it soon, when I´ve tied it together!

A new thang! With a couple of Wip-shots too! weeEE!

    EDITed image! :

Mitt bidrag heter Ralf The Rabbit-Hunter, btw. Gråskaleman med pickadoll! =)

hey man, you know that I really think that you've stepped it up now. I am so glad for you, really really am, great so see such progress after seeing how much work you put into things. YOu have been an inspiration to me since we met and I owe alot of my own progress to you. Thank you man. Now for some crit ^^

I agree with Flaskpost but I would like to see some more work on the cloth and armour parts. THe atmosphere in the piece is great and I love the edges.
I love your designs mate, dunno where you get the inspiration for it all.

Armor Squid - Now In Color

Nice work there, mate. It took me a while to figure out that the shapes in the background were the embryo of some sort of woodland backdrop, but once I did I think the hints of snow and the overall cool, blue color of the BG help establish a setting with a minimum of fuss.

The cloth still looks a bit too unconvincing to really work, but you improved significantly upon it. It does a much better job of emphasizing the direction and weight of the character-o-squid... a-mathing.

If you want to go further with the piece I would suggest removing the tentacle in the upper left corner, or adding a tentacle in the upper right corner. I do think the solitude and hinted majesty of the composition would benefit more from not having any tentacles above the thing's head. It might help add some more weight to it, too, and with that an improved sense of purpose.

And specifically, I don't think the rim light at the very bottom of the hem of the robe helps the picture. It seems a little contrived, and it messes with the three dimensionality of the fabric you're rendering.

Over all a very nice picture. You're improving by the day!

Very nice way of coloring. Get the color of the main character down then re-colorize the background. I shall be stealing that method in the future.

Although, I think the drapery needs work. It gets a little confusing as to what is happening underneath.

    Nice work!

I'm interested, actually in how you colourise the monochrome image. The areas seem very tight and clean and I was wondering, do you use 'hue and saturation' set to colourise on multiple layers and delete the unwanted areas, or do you just paint on a top layer set to 'colourise'? Or is it something else?

Flaskpost- Ah, Tack!

Buckster- Thank you buddy! You´ve made some solid improvement yourself !

(I strongly recommend people to check out becksters sketchbook, it´s pretty neat! if you read this, look at it! )

Mysteryofalbesila- Hello my dear friend! I´m thrilled to see you around! ^^ Thanks for the encouragement!

Tymos- Thanks for the advice, I take it to heart! let´s talk more art at lunch!

Beonarri- Hello buddy! I´m glad to be of some assistance ^^. Yeah, the cloth is fucked up, I´ll repaint it.

Lotet- Tack! ^^ Jo, han är lite cool allt. Stekta sparvar i munnen osv.

Scarecrovv- Usually I give it all a general colour on a colour or overlay layer. Then I start giving specific areas their own colours on new colour and overlay layers. I flatten the image quite alot, and play around with levels and the occational hue/saturation meter. It´s quite simple, actually ^^ (oh, and be careful and patient with the edges)

Tigermilk- Tack! Jag kan lära dig det lilla jag kan, om du vill^^ Var skall vi börja? Lär dig färgcirkeln, och skillanden på varma och kall färger. Mest färg hamnar i halvtonerna, dvs. övergångarna mellan ljus och skugga ^^ fast det vet du kanske redan?

Vimmel- Tack! ^^ Jag skall försöka

    More stuffs! Oh well.

And Made some significant Changes to this one!

    Peace! ^^

    Hive_mind- Thanks!
Flaskpost- Tack^^ Jag håller väl inte helt med om butt-uglyness-en. Men det fanns helt klart bättre bidrag IMO. Trodde verkligen på Dennis Chan och Claes Engdahl. Oh well. Ittle var kul att göra ^^

nice to see you putting some stuff in here again. I really enjoy the last abstract piece, could be a coolie squiddy face or whatnot^^ Your thumbnails are really cool and moody as well. I think you've got the mood thing going in your colour BGs as well but you could work more on the definition to rocky surfaces and add a tad more texture.

Love your progress man, keep kicking it!

your completed image of the blond haired character is pretty schweet, although i think the legs are a bit short for the rest of the bod,
I really enjoyed looking at all the small doodles, etc. Nice sketchbook!!

Those sketches are amazing! What's the name of that book again, the one about figure drawing you seem to swear by?

Anyway, the only useful I can say about anything would be the pixel art.
Needs more contrast and a bit of shape-rendering because it looks kinda "flat".
Also, it mysteriously contains hundreds of colors when it seems to only have a few... tsk tsk
    Since I was a bit bored, I made a paintover ^^
