Oh dang I am so glad I wandered into this thread! I'm in Charlotte There ARE only a few of us... I'm not from here but I've been in Charlotte for the past 5 years and it's a good place to be.

I didn't even know there was a con here haha we always attend DragonCon in Atlanta every year though Nice to meet everyone!

Hey, I'm gonna be at Dragon Con with the Atlanta Sketch Group (we have a fan table). I'm also in the art show. You should come hang out and sketch with us if you have a chance.

I'm kind of in limbo between North Carolina and Atlanta at the moment. I visit Charlotte several times a year and I always have a great time. If you are interested in comics you should check out Heroes, it's really fun and there are usually several other CA members there. There is also Hickory Con, Trinoc Con, and Animazement.

My parents are thinking about moving us to Durham soon. What's good there? D: Galleries, art stores, anything?

I hardly ever make it out to Durham and I only live 30 mins away in Raleigh. Most, if not almost all of the "art" things in the Triangle area are located in Raleigh.

Silly me for never looking here in the North Carolina Artists thread...especially after Chirp Chirp (coworker) told me about it..Dur. Anyway, I'm living in Raleigh working at Destineer Studios as an environment artist, and occasionally they let me out of my cage and do some concept art

On an activity note, I've been thinking about going to the life drawing sessions on tuesday nights at Artspace. From what I've read there's no instructor, its more of a free for all kinda thing. Oh and its like 8 bucks. If there's any Raleigh CAers out there with a spare 8 bucks and a tuesday evening we should make it a thing. I'm getting married next week and will be on my honeymoon the next, so I probably won't go till the end of Sept. but I'll be sure to post some info/thoughts/sketches when I do go.

    Talking Hey Cthogua!

I live in Raleigh myself. I have actually chatted with Chirp a few times on IRC. Give him a hello from me.

Congrats on getting married. I get married next April so I am just starting the fun of planning with my other half.(thank goodness for beer)

I have been getting mail messages about the Artspace life drawing sessions for quite some time now and I have always had it in the back of my mind to go. So when you get back from your honeymoon give me a shout and I will make it a regular thing to go with ya. I have never had anyone to go with to these things like the Dr. Sketchy's thing and such, so I have always pussed out.

I would also be interested in starting a sketch group or something in Raleigh with you if you are interested.

Nah, things are just to hectic right now. Like I said before, I'll be on my honeymoon next week so I won't be able to make that, however the one after that I'd definatly like to try to make it out to...the 25th I believe

Whudup NC CA artists! I hope this artist group isn't dead. I recently joined up in order to improve my fine art skills. I mostly draw cartoons, but I have many ideas that would look better if they were painted traditionally. Are there any life drawing/painting classes around here in NC I could take? fay does not have anything, so im teaching myself.

Hey guys, sorry I've been gone so long. It looks like I'm going to be in Georgia for a while but I still visit NC from time to time. I've been very busy with my upcoming show. It's just a small event at a coffee shop here in Atlanta, but it is a good excuse to make new work. Also, the preparations for the next convention season are underway. I know for a fact that I will be at Heroes again. Animazement is out this year, but I think I will try to make it to one of the Hickory cons. More news will be posted as it is available!

    Welcome SugaCrcl!!

So SugarCrcl down in Fayetnam huh? You military? I am up in Raleigh. Good to hear from you and I can't wait to see some of your work.

This is the best art place on the web imho. Don't forget to take time to look at all the cool features in your User CP. You can make a signature and other things. Another great feature on this forum is when you find a thread you want to keep track of, you can click on Thread Tools and subsicribe to the thread and define how and when you want to be notified of updates. I do that for this forum so when my NC CA.org pplz speak up I can listen in.

So do you do digital art yet SugaCrcl? You have a Wacom etc? There are more resources on this site than you can imagine, I can get lost in the posts sometimes. Have fun swimming in the CA.org knowledge. Some of the best artist in the world contribute here.

    Do you have a website?

    Again, welcome.

No, im not military, wheezy. I was just born and raised down here. I do keep a sketchblog, it's mostly cartoons though. I'm trying to get some fundamentals down in order to improve my work; level-up my skills, u know? I have done some digital art. I run a Mac with PS and Painter, and i have a 12x12 wacom i bought from ebay last year. I'll be around, let me know if you all decide to go life drawing or something. I'd be happy to join in.

You would come all the way from Fayetteville? I may go tomorrow depending on how my legs feel. I injured my knee and I am crutching it right now so getting around is really a blast. The Artspace figure studies are every Tuesday night from 7:30 - 10pm. I believe they also do a couple Saturday sessions a month with longer poses which I would assume would be better for you coming all the way from there.

Us CA.org peeps here in central NC need to get our acts together like Atlanta or something.

I can make that Nov. 10 session. That's the 1030 to 1330 session right? Where is it, and do they do this often?

    Greetings

I recently moved to Lenoir, NC. -- don't ask why, I'm still try'n to figure that one out. Anyhow, I just happen to come across this art group and thought I join up. Seems perfect, most of the cities mentioned within this thread sound familiar -- hmm, I better look over a map.

I specialize in creatures atm, actually, anything that is out of the norm. I tend to stick with traditional methods, have done digital, but that was years ago -- many years ago.

hey everyone! I went to the last idga meeting, it was very good and had a lot of food there. there were a lot of people at the meeting. what was interesting to me was that i noticed how all the gamers who attended looked alike. There will be another meeting in February. The carolina games summit is on in goldsboro on the 26th this month; $10 to get in. I'll be there, I've never attended before. Lately, I've been getting myself together to start life drawing outside again. I hope everyone had a good holiday!
