Hey Si, this is Danny, also from AVAA (I discovered your thread through Bryan's). Love the work here, you should come to life drawing more often. Are you going to grad school or finding work here or what?

big update! There's a bunch here, a collection of what I've been up to lately, or rather, within the past month. Finally got over my dry spell during spring break. I don't think this is all I've done, but it's most of the ones I'd want to show...

There are... portraits of friends, of a Korean pop star, of space ships, more space ships for an RTS, mech for a commission, a Homeworld fanart tribute, a Gurren lagann fan art of Yoko, and the beginning of an asteroid mining station for a personal universe I'm working on.

Found a whole bunch of brushes I've downloaded over the years and I've been playing with them. There's probably more than a hundred in my preset right now and I can't seem to ever find the same brush twice. How do you guys texture metal anyway? I'm having a really hard time making it look right for the mech piece. It needs to be uber polished so I'm really taking my time with it, and even piecing together from a 3D render to make sure the parts are lit right.

Hmmm Vray is pretty. Too bad it's reflection is kind of funky most of the times.

Hey man, your latest updates are wonderful! I've enjoyed watching the progression of your mech designs, they are becoming more and more advanced.

The textures you've incorporated in your figurative work are pleasing and add
great variety to the piece. Awesome stuff, hope to see you sometime at a local life drawing session.

I hope so. I'm doing these studies for that exact purpose. But I haven't gotten the courage to restart designing my own yet.

Excllent. youll definitely notice when doing your own work that lighting and design ideas flow much more easily than before you did the studies; it really does go in and stay there.

dude awesome blending and lighting!!! you did a figure a bit up there that blew my mind! and ive seen the reference you got it Spot on! keep the awesome things coming! you could use doing some gestures for warm up you know to get all the gears going! anyway good luck!
