    Final Touches

Hey! Been working all night with this one, actually it took longer than that but been working really intensely these last 6 hours, but I think I stared myself blind on it (you know when you get used to your own painting so that you can't really distinguish faults as you would with fresh eyes)

Anyhow, so please lemme know all the faults you can find!

    Appreciate any suggestions!

I really like the atmosphere of the piece and the contrast with the colours on the horse against the background. The faces of the horse and rider look great.

The main things I'm not sure about are the horses rear legs, the shape and angle of them doesn't seem right especially when following the flow of the riders cloak. It looks like it's extending too far back.

    Hope this helps.

The harder edges are making the horse's eye the focal point, but the contrast is pushing the hoof shock circles. The tree is pointing toward the horse head and the rider, but the broad swath of texture in the lawer tight corner is demanding attention because it's the only place with little interest. But I think it's the edge control that is doing the greatest disservice to the composition.

The horse's head is very nice, but there's just too much chaos in the rest of it.

You';ve got good contrast in the heads of the rider and horse. Try bringing that contrast to the rest of the piece aswell.

Also, the back legs are bugging me. I'm assuming the horse is rearing. If that's the case then the legs ar too high up. They should stretch out more. Right now the wizard is sitting behind were the back legs would begin if they were located at the angle. And the white, is that mist? Glowy stuff? I can't figure it out.

    Thanx alot everyone!

As you guys pointed out the rear legs is what bothers me too, but just to make it clear, all legs that are actually visable are front legs. The horse itself is a mythological horse named Sleipner with 8 legs. So the leg configuration is 4 in the front and 4 in the back.
The four back legs are not visable being under the cloak, but if you look you'll see the folds in the fabric covering the rear would suggest a bulge, but inaccurate highlighting/shading I think didn't bring it forward enough

Anyhow I also think I over did the lights and lightbeams, but since it's based on seperate layers it's not too hard to play around with.

Dogfood, ah yes the focal point! you're absolutely right there's a struggle over it! I'll try and bring out a center focus and trim down the sourrrounding.
