hey joel - i think that book is anthony ryder's "the artist's complete guide to figure drawing" - grrrreat book!

here's something i worked on today for a medical legal case on an abdominal aortic aneurysm (shown it section with the front of the vessel wall off) - it will be in color for final, but there isn't any point in going that full distance when changes will likely occur. this is about 6 hours start to this point. it isn't done.

    cheers!

Reddybaby: I enjoyed those figure studies... Albeit, some may be a tad obvious where your focus was (read: study of shaved outer labia with legs spread )

if it looks like i just flipped the previous drawing and tweaked it to have the scales and other modifications, then you're 100% correct. why waste the time reinventing the entire body, eh?

I was wrapped up in several other projects today. I got this one done and conferred with my client if the critter should have scales or fur or both. I'm leaving it up to him to choose.

    scales:

    fur:

BTW, this little fella was a burrower like the modern day gopher. Pretty small too.

tooooooofreakin cool dave... keep it up!
this guy, should your client decide upon him, needs just a little more contrast and values put into the fur..compared to the insanely textured amphibian skin this guy doesn't look quite as cool.

just a thought. thanks for the book tip-->i'm totally going to order it.

And Joel, I did get the big thumbs up for the furry version. Spent 10 minutes or so adding a bit more contrast/values to the fur. Thanks for the assist!

two things on this last one to work on: the left shoulder and the chin. other than those spots, the structure looks good, you just need to work your rendering magic.

B- thanks for the tips! I'll give that a good look into on Monday! Rendering magic....ha! Good one, bud.
J- thanks too! Since we're both doing the tdome, is it ok to wait on the hurridome? We'll do it, but perhaps later rather than sooner.
