Couple more.
Couple more.
Damn John, you are truly on your way.....this is cool to watch. On your April 22nd post post there is a line drawing of a girl sitting....I'm assuming it's a life drawing? If so, I think you broke new ground in your life drawings with that one (as well as the less finished smaller one under it). It has a very definite sense of rythm and grace to it. You captured a little bit of the subtle beauty that most people are oblivious to. Neato!
John, I am in awe of your brilliance. This stuff is AMAZING. I love your enviro paintings, They have been real inspiring to my own and opened my eyes to try new things. One thing though, I LOVE your rendering, especially when you do hair (omg). However, I think that when you do some things you go a bit overboard and render things for renderings sake. Like the girls face in the post above this, cool drawing, but a woman's face is very smooth and it would seem should receive barely any rendering if any at all, she kinda looks like she has a skin disease right now and looks real bummed about it. I know your going for a full value range and I would like to see how one would handle this. Amazing stuff though, I still can't get over your environments!!! I think I am gunna throw up this stuff is so amazing.
PS - I'm still waiting for hold the mustard!

fattkid-Hey, I hope I am on my way. But the more your eyes are opened, the more you see your own shortcomings. I guess that is just the way it is learning this stuff though.
th3rd_sin-I think you just met your compliment quota for the year there Anthony. Serously though, I appreciate your good words. I will take into account what you say about the face, though I think part of it is the scan. I do not want to be the type to make my scanner a scapegoat, blaming it for genuine drawing issues, but I honestly will say it contributed in this case...

Wow. Sorry I can't think of much to say, but I feel obligated to comment. Your black and white work looks so full and powerful, I love the picture you did of the tattooed guy with the knives at the top of this page. your poses are really dynamic! Really cool work!
hey man, very nice work in here, excellent pencil and digital technique...looks like you're a big fan of Wes Burt,, from your pencils...while the latest update reminds me of Djurdjevic in the first one,and Andrew Jones in the second one
i really liove the colors, mood and enviro in the first pic of post 275...again, very good work
keep sharing
ciao!
ChaoticKnight-It's funny becasue several people have mentioned that they like that knife guy. That was just a boredom induced sketch, I guess it just shows that good drawings come when they come.
TheGnoll-Now that's a trifecta of comparisons, though I am hardly worthy of any of them. There is no denying that there are certain individuals that will have a big impact. All these MB guys are so good, so it's definitely worth exploring what they are all about. But I have to remind myself there are an infinite number of options out there. I am hoping that if I try to sample the range of all the things I like, even things I don't, it will lead to a place that has something unique in it.
loving to see how u improving particularly in digital medium ( painting, enviro etc..) also nice in your art its how we can see what were the influences, at pencil marko and wes and that last angel one, reminds me some jason-chan , who dosent get influencied by them ^^ ofc i your own style. gotta learn from the master haha. keep improving matte
your pencil-work is splendid!
whats your secret

I bow down to the master. I'm completely in awe. I was blown away by your early stuff and now. . . and now. . . you're the master.
Brian
Just 4 stars????Imposible!!!!Here you go!!!
Dabaers-Hmm, I feel like a total slacker sometimes, thanks though.
bbassir-Hey thanks Brian, but I am no master. No one becomes a master in 3 years, some things are just restricted by time, and there is no way around that.
Camara-Haha, thank you I really appreciate the support.
I'm speechless, your making amazing progress sir!! I'm really loving the new batch of work! your pencils skills has improved a ton. Wow, Man its been to long since I've been in here.
One crit, the left hand of the creature on the second post looks a bit akward, It could be because the hand is a little wide, or the fingers seem to all be the same size, just being alittle nitpicky.GOod to see your book. I have to also think you for the really awesome crits you give in my sb. Your words are truely appreciated. Keep up the good work.
Whoa, amazing work. You've got such a nice clean sketching technique going on. Love the paint work also, really diggin' the environments...so cool! ^_^

Darktwin-Thanks for the speechlessness...Yeah things keep going. Agreed about the hand on that guy, I don't think I made it clear enough what the position was.
Chermilla-Yeah I'm really trying to step up the painting, I have always sucked at color and value so I'm trying to fix that.
mehran-Thanks
archipelago-Yeah I took a little longer on that one then most. I often forget that it is a good idea to come back and work on a picture on a later day, so you can see it with fresh eyes.
Epias-Thanks. Painting has always been my bane, so I am trying to get it up to par. Yeah I usually try to very loosely gesture out stuff before finalizing anything. Often though I like to hit some committed marks right away. If they are wrong I just erase them, but I like this method since it really disciplines you. The most important part of a drawing are the very first stages, so it is good to get those solid and have a good foundation to build on.
RaistlinTheDark-Sweet.
Camara-Hey double thanks for dropping in again.
Lone Wolf-Thanks
Couple more paintings, and a gif, since a few people have asked about some process stuff. If you feel there is a better way to approach stuff, please share.

awesome sb pages dude! and the life drawings are sizzlin'. I wish I had a place to do more life drawings. That's what sucks about living in a small town.
One crit: maybe you could add a bit more color into your skintones, take a look at some sargent, bouguereau etc. Good stuff to learn from. Keep truckin!
There it is! Awesome painting, and nice GIF, you should post more of these!I must see more!

Skeiff-Hey thanks, and thanks for pointing out my flesh tones. Yeah I really need to work on getting some more hue and life into them. You are a far better painter then I, the advice is much appreciated.
Sealegs-I will try
