After a long drought... These are sketches from Vanderpoel. Enjoy.
Here's a drawing I did from one of those little wooden figures that you can get at the art store.

That wooden figure really struck me, your light values are awesome. I like your style too, it's sort of classic.

Heres some new stuff. A lot of these drawings are from Kevin Chen's class demos.
Here is a drawing I did from this talented artist's sketchbook thread. (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=60600) Post #2

Here's a concept sketch, it was supposed to be a human but changed because I started it really late at night. I'm not really sure what it is now.

I don't understand why this has no replies yet. The last few sketches are my favorites.
Please post more!

aaaah crap. seeing all of this is going to force me to go back and rework quite a bit on this piece i have due on thursday. thanks
Wow man these are very impressive! and 17 years old, youve got some amazing talent that you can really tell youve put alot of hardcore work and time into refining. Im particularly impressed by your women studies, the proportions are beautiful, defined, it just sticks right off the page. If your wondering, im the one youve been chatting with on aim. : ) I cant wait to see more of your stuff. im uber impressed, if you keep this up no telling how good you could get! *feints*
This is a study from a painting Sargent did of his teacher.
These are just little sketches. Done very lazily.

Here are some sketches
Hey, those latest sketches are looking hot! I like the one you used for an avatar, the guys smirk looks like a "har har, i just beat you at pacman" kind of smirk. XP I cant quite tell if thats a guy or a girl in the bottom left though, im leaning towards girl because i think i seem some breastage in there. looking good, keep putting led to ze paper mon.
Spencer, you've really developed an excited mastery of value (I need this). It's Miles. How do you start off a sketchbook thread? If you'd like I have some work on deviantart, http://peccavimus.deviantart.com/. Brilliant.
Hey Miles. Thanks for the comments dude. I checked out your deviant art, I was impressed by your work. I can see you like Gustav Klimt. I just recently when to LACMA to see his exhibit, it was really cool. Do you use the AIM address you put on DA? We should talk on AIM.
I don't have AIM anymore but I think this computer has some inherent messaging program. I'll try to boot that up. Yeah, I'm a great Klimt fan. I like that imbalance in positive and negative objects he makes characteristic of his work (like in the Adele Bloch-Bauer portrait at LACMA). Anyways, I've become interested in Sargent and continue to do those little value studies you saw because I need to see your shades. Talk to you later. -Miles
Get AIM booted up because that's my only way of communicating with the outside world. If AIM doesnt work try, Trillian, or using AIM express at aim.com. Gogo.
Looks great a always !
Just a question, do you get the white colors with a prismacolor? or is it done with something else?
It really pops out the drawing.
Anyway, keep posting !!!!
Recursive_End- Hey thanks for stopping by again! Those white highlights are done with a white china marker (still like a pencil). I use them because I think the wax or oil in them lets me get brighter hilights than with a prisma color.
From life drawing today:
i really need some of those kinda markers, but im kind of fond of photoshops dodge tool too. keep those life studies up there lookin hot!
