Cool book man. Nice lil sketches. It'd be great to see some more studies from life, and ref as well to help with some proportion issues. Keep truckin mate.

Great update. The human studies look spot on. I like the incongruity of the man and the robot at the bar. The arm joke is really well executed, I lol'd. Also, somehow I knew I'd be seeing Mr. Bubbles here...or a little sister...haha, that game has such a great style it makes you want to draw, and use excessive amounts of bloom...Finally the warty, bulgy portrait you painted it creepy. I don't know if its because of the bulges but the proportions look off to me. Like his eyes are too far apart, or his chin is huge...idk...
Also thanks for the compliments on my bounty hunter, I was really proud of myself for doing it, cause it actually seemed good to me, like I turned a corner in development of people. But when I saw almost the exact same thing already painted I got discouraged. I didn't do anything for like two days cause I needed a new idea, and I was never able to get the sketches finished for all three angles on my new idea, so there's always the next one I guess. I'll post the new idea I had in the next update.
Don't fear erasing and redrawing things a dozen times, for example with "small head", try to fix mistakes instead of abandoning them, feel and grope your way towards a solution, don't quit until you're sure you don't know the answer, when that happens then break out the reference.

Dido armando, erase until it feels right and if it doesn't its not a crime to find reference to aid you with your problem. Keep up the good work and that Indian video was hilarious.
The small head is not that far off. It is better, IMO, to draw the head a little to small in you study work, than too large. All of us have the tendency to draw the head too big, again because we place importance on it. Drawing it too small for a while can actually help to correct for that. Over compensate and then eventually reign back to a normal size. It has worked for me a few times.
So now I wanna know, what did that bastard just do? He seems rather full of himself.
Way to go with the anatomy studies, your improvement over the last month has been spectacular. Keep it up.
Hey man!
Maybe we are changing the sketchgroup day. join a discussion in the thread http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=75235 and lets see if we find a solution.

YES!!!
I have been waiting for it to happen, I knew it would and now it is. You are finally stretching those figures out. Up to this point, even earlier in this update, the figures had a tendency to look short and hippy. These last few pages are looking tons better. Pay attention to that and try to keep it up.
You know what you should do? Focus on these robots of yours and practice drawing them like crazy, even more than you do now. Then as you become the master robot artist, CA will make a dvd of you! That would be awsome, I would buy it.
Excellent last post man! Hope to meet ya before you leave Philly!
sick robots (as usual). everything is getting better in here, even the robot designs. i cant get enough of mister bubbles. keep working on that head structure, it will pay off.
i really like the energy of your lines, very inspirational. lots of great stuff happening here. Killer robots and vehicles. Keep working hard man, great progression thus far.![]()
man I love this sketchbook, your rendering is so smooth very great stuff, I get inspired every time I check it out, now to go draw something my self
@Q-Caddlewick: haha, thanks man but it will be a hell of a long time before anything i made makes it onto a dvd
@ChaoticKnight: thanks, i should be downtown on tuesday
@jim b: thanks, and thanks for letting me borrow the dvd, i just watched it and it's mind blowing
@Darktwin: thanks a lot man
@jedininjaman: thanks, glad you find it inspiring

Hi there! Nice SB and ...oh the amount of works! O.o
Quite interesting stuff here...dont know why but your robot and vehicle designs are very pleasant to look at!
Keep updating!![]()

Hey man, sorry for disappearing for a month, check posts after your last one, in my sb, they explain what I've been going through and there's an update!...anyways, its great to see all this new stuff! Anatomy studies look great, proportions are getting better and better. The only thing is that your female hips to me always seem wide...maybe its just me. I really like all the vehicle and spider-walker sketches. How Trans of you...ahaha... The character sketches are great, I love the little details going on. Finally, that Canadian Racer is pretty awesome... I like the first one's legs more than the second version, but the second version looks more sleek to follow the prompt I assume.... great stuff!
Btw, I got Michaud (for ID), Staff (for Design Communications), and Doehler (for Design Tech), I also got Baum (for the Making of Things).... are they any good, haha heard any horror stories?

Cool vehicles. I like it when you show the pencil version along with the painted. It allows me to enjoy the linework that went into it.
The variety in your character designs is good. I see you struggling to get those proportions right. Keep working on stretching those people out. Don't let them get too stocky.
You should try your hand at this week's chow. It looks like it will be fun, I might try to give it a go.
@Blaz: thanks, will do
@leady: yeah my proportions still are a bit wonky, and that list is pretty much people who i don't get along with at all, except howie, he's cool
@Chance: school kicked in, not enough time to do a chowmy proportions are still wonky i know, ill stop being lazy and do studies soon

Hey wombat, really enjoyed this page of your sb. It was fun looking through the moleskine stuff, have to say your vehicle sense is really good. The canadian ship you did and all the sketches for vehicles in early posts turned out real good! The rendering of the ship in #433 is really nice, good colors. Keep up the awesomeness.![]()
TUNAFISH SAMMICHES?!
Man, it's really incredible stuff here! I love it. It's a 5 stars thread!
Your mechanic stuff is very cool, keep up the great work.
Cheers!
I am liking the creature and helmet designs in this update.
Another thing to keep in mind, which will help your figures read as masculine or feminine is that, on women, the pelvis has more of a forward tilt, while guy's pelvises stand almost vertical. You notice this a lot a a three quarter view.
I did a little illustration because this stuff is difficult to explain well with words
I used your first "out of gas" guy as an example. I know I got the head to big on my second sketch, and that the legs are too short, but hopefully you can see what I mean.
@Sirio_Brozzi: thanks man, will try
@Jorge Gecov: thanks man, it means a lot
@Chance: ah, i see, im usually too worried about making the bottom half of my figures too small and i guess i tend to over compensate, thanks for the example.
had a lot of drawing momentum at the beginning of the week and then school kicked my arse...

Hey! Those pens look like spaceship cockpits! Interesting.
Thanks for all your help on the chow piece. Mine was one of twenty pieces out of close to sixty total that actually made it into the voting. I even got a vote so it was a good day. Who can compete with people like newman (who won) and Bumskee (who is just awesome)
That painted dude is great. Nice colors. His flat eyes make him look wonky though. Also I wish somehow that the knife came across a little clearer. Something about the way you handled the glow makes it look fuzzy.
Hey! you used to put all these cool characters in scenes with interesting captions. I miss those days BRING THEM BACK. please.
Those pencil's are all sweet. I'm liking the canadian ship, but something was throwing me perspective wise. I think the bar going over the cockpit is out of wack, but the rest looks sweet. Nice SB.
You're an artist, not a meat camera. -Elwell
Vehicle designs are Effin' rad, man!
We need an update dude!
