Haha, ok
Well I'm sorry to say that, but your figures still look stiff. It's not that the proportions are not correct or whatever, the poses are just boring. Make some diversity, let your figures walk, sit, jump, lay, turn backwards etc. Try to get something dynamic. Oh, and go out and draw some people or buildings or something, that helps too
Hey, pretty cool. You've got some nice studies going on here; good to see you're focusing on the fundamentals. I agree that a lot of your figure studies are pretty static, but your small thumbnail figures show a good sense of dynamism. Try translating that into your larger figures. Go crazy with 'em.
For the profile head pic, the main mistake is the eye area. You've got a profile shot, but the eyes are front-on.
Good stuff, though, keep up the studies, and try to inject some dynamism into the figure studies.![]()

Ur arms and legs are getting along pretty well! I still notice that u accidently put the chest a bit higher up on the torso than it suppost to do, but thats a minor detail
(the first torso sketch has so much depth, same goes witht he arms, bravo
)
Anyways, keep up the updates as well as u keep on improving![]()
Overall a good effort.
I'd like you though to loosen up in your linework, i'm starting to sound like a broken record.
Rather than draw from the wrist, draw from the elbow and even from the shoulder.
Also don't be afraid to commit to lines, yours at the moment are affected by what is called "chicken scratch".
Gesture drawings help tons to develop a confident and efficient line.
Anyway, keep practicing you're on the right path.
DON'T CLICK THIS
That's even better, it means you can work light until you want to define your lines, and the light lines won't get scanned in. It allows you to pick out just those lines you want. Also, ball point pen is better for sketching, use felt tip when you want to force yourself to lay your lines down right the first time; this is great for quick studies.Originally Posted by Dile

Damn Dile you are a 14 year old monster, everytime i look up you're at the top fo the first page. Great work ethic and i am also seeing lots of improvement. Great energy, keep it up man i really like your latest concept cool sword. Way to be.![]()
wow, your only 14? I see lots of interesting ideas here, yeah thanks for a nice reply earlier ^^ okay, so if you want to improve your painting skills I would look for edge control (sharp and loose edges, look for which way the lights casting on a form it will help you to control your contrast of the form) when I started drawing, I used to sketch tons of strait lines, circles and boxs, it helps you to draw in perspective and control of the line gets sharper. Look for references from old masters, look for interesting color and sample it <might help you to improve, try to make it your own> buy a color wheel and try matching the color, or look for good lanscape paintings or old masters painting for how they used color. <john singer sargent's paintings help me when I was going to school>
maybe was too long ^^;; hope that helped.
k, ur sb is successfully placed in my sig![]()
Strange, I checked my sb today, and the last message was from Faust
now there are message from 2 days agostrangeeeee....
Faust: ok, I get that, whatever you say is good
LoTekK: Thx, about the head/profile, I guees your right, Ill try to do
as darktwin says, drawing with pencils first, to get the shape and anatomy of the headThx for stopping by!
Wolfbane: Yeah, do feel that the legs and arms get better
especially the arms. I found one of those smudge pens I were talking about on msn, thats how I smudged the legs
Evildisco:BEST"chicken scratch", and thx
, I will try to do those "1 line sketches" to make my
lines more confident.
Flip: Im glad you liked itthx !!!
Thats the pen sort I used in the first drawi
ng on page 3, I kinda liked it, but you cant erease>__>
Ashrumm: I like to be on the first pageAlthough I havent posted anything
important exept the very last thing hereand thx!
Joshvisual: yes I amthx, and NP your work is aboslutly top work!! I envy you!
Im doing one digital reference work every day, (started to do so this monday)
I will absolutly take your advice, with in mind that you have done so
Wolfbane: Thx !
heres my tiny tiny update *sorry* *sigh* Post more later
AND: look what I had from my sister !!, well it was my dad's from beginning..
5 books ( one of em only anatomy) with about 300- 500 pages each !!!!
![]()
Very good update dile, I see your trying to get structure down, thats what I'm working on at the moment. What I use to measure is the 8 head method, 2 head
2 head to nipple,
3 head to naval,
4 head to crotch, or bottom of pelvis,
5 head to middle upper leg or quad
6 head to bottom of knee
7 head middle of calf, and
8 head to bottom of the foot
now this varies with the female form body, its 7 heads usually, it depends on how you draw also. cheers, keep drawing man, nice update again.
Thx for the 'list' Darktwin!
EDIT*** DARKTWIN: the same list you gave me is on the page viewed in the picture of my books
you keep watching my sketchbook, and I appreciate it alot !![]()

You're so lucky to have those big anatomy books. Go forward and copy alot from it !![]()
Evildisco is right, be more confident, and avoid doing so many lines.
Anyway, keep drawing, and with time all those errors will go away.![]()

thanks for visiting my book, dile! nice update, especially the last page shows real progress! and your little figures show some pretty decent dynamics already! congratulations to that books you got, it's always great to get some guidelines, even when you're not using them entirely. admire your energy!

Thx stine, np , yeah I want my figures to be dynamic, absolutly not stiff!
yeap, those books were great !they are super old , but its still useablematerial (bought around 70's )
Thx for replying, I love your sketchbook!
Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook. I looked from first page to last, I'm think you've gotten far already. And seeing such dedication with the antomy studies. Great!
I like the perspective in some of your drawing, where two characters is standing opposite. It looks like you've thought about that one of the persons are further away.
Keep on struggling.
Hugs!
Very nice man! I like your line-confince exercise. I take you did that without a ruler?
Thx Pencilator, Although I dont know, wich characters your pointing at ??
Faust: Thx, a ruler ? whats that, if you mean one of those straight
things (often 15, or 30 centimetres) then NO, that wouldnt help
me much with my line confident.... >>
thx for your comments guys![]()
What I mean is just that you have a good eye for perspective, and that's a good thingIt shows in many drawings.
Hugs!
Hey,
wow you have improved lots since your first page, keep that up!And your last update just showed wat im talking about! Good little figures and line drawings. And your even better because your the same age as me, hehehe
Keep it up!
Qxzi
Hey, haven't looked at your stuff in a while. You seem to have improved a lot, though your line work is still a little scratchy. Wish I was as dedicated as you. Keep up the good work.
Hey
wasup? thnx for dropping by my sb.
k, mainly darktwin and recursive_end said it all - these guys know their shit, so don't take it lightly. You'll have to start looking at muscles and bones, and depicting them in the right way. Try and exaggerate your muscles and bones - it'll help you see your flaws. Once you exaggerate, you'll see the problems much easier. Even if you like graphite, start working with pen more - it'll improve almost every aspect of your graphite skills too.
Drawing may be the only area where practice never makes perfect, but it's the area where practice counts the most.
In other words, keep drawing!

Pencilator: Oh, I just read you wrong.. sorry, and thx
Qxzi: oh, yeha I try to get the stiffness away , R U 14 ???
wow...
Gentlefood3: Nice nick, oh yeah my lines are a bit of Chicken scratch, as evildisco wanted to call itand I do alot of studies and exercies (right now)
to get that away
Demented: finnaly someone from SoFAIts great to hear some advices from
you ultra-expert guys from Sofa,
ehm , what graphite ? I do use pen and ink most time, well pen and wacom 50/50, and then sometimes I use fineliner.![]()
Well, as I'd sayed before, practiseing wouldn't be anyproblem for mesince i draw at least 1 hour a day, no exeptions...
So I will keep drawing![]()
Thx for your word guys, I appreciate it alot!!
great work bro, keep at it. You're definitly showing improvement. With your digi work, keep our brush as big as you can for as long as you can, then progressively get smaller.
Hey, thx, I use to start out with as big brush as possible, and build on the details later, I maybe havent thought of it as much in the newest pieces..
(I appoliogise those imageless post, Im working/drawing, modelling, and code for Project Exodus (The End) with Wolfbane for the moment, and, and the material we do wont be public in our sb untill we have an own thread in the WIP forum. We will explain more when we have a thread)
Sounds great. I can't wait to see what you're cooking![]()
It's really great to see how you take on people's criticisms and run with it, like how you've been working with gestures lately to make your figures more alive and loose. Great anatomy studies too, they're really paying off.
It IS great Faust
hm, check the website, there is some pictures on now
http://www.project-exodus.co.nr
yeah its still wip, and the story isnt up, but Im trying![]()
Good to see you drawing things from life also, its always good to mix it up, drawing from your mind to drawing objects around you, really good exerscises man. I'll be checking in for the next one. Keep up the good work. I'm curious about this Project Exodus, looks really awesome so far, if you haven't already you should explain it in the ssg forums![]()
