Thanks wolfbane, nice to see you again =)

Well, im been damn lazy... Not lazy drawing, but lazy updateing, been
doing only colour-studying, the peer project exercieses kinda, and been lurking around in Idiot apathy's sketchbooks all day... Sargent been popular to.. Im been doing tons of colour stuff, my colours been desaturated , and pretty boring.. and I really wanna change that now. Also been studying anatomy.
I try to post my exercises.. however.
Heres my work in progress picture.. I think i've spent 6 hours so far.
C&C is very welcome please , I really want to finish this picture with a decent result =)

    Thanks!

    Hey man
    Nice new update!

    Some crits:
    * The top of the head looks very flat.
    * The shadow from the arm/hand is missplaced, or not even there
    * The colours are still pretty muddy, but since it's still a WIP I guess that you'll fix it later
    * Shouldn't the light that is reflected from his right arm have another colour than red? If you take a look at his right side torso, there's some red bouncelight that I can't figure out where it came from

    Keep it up!

Colour study eh? Theres a few good books around about colour theory. Ive got 'Blue and Yellow dont make Green,' I havent progressed far into it yet, but Ive heard some rave reviews about it.
But Ive been forever told to get my values correct first. If the values dont work neither will the colours.

    hey man, doing great progress!
I've been slacking, but it's nice to see someone who keep it up!
Well.. I thought I'd give you some crit concerning anatomy on this one though(hope none mentioned this before though haha):

I didn't quite understand how the arms work. It seems as if the biceps are attached to the wrong bones and muscles, more or less. Especially on the figures right arm. I did a quick paint over:

As you can see I've moved the biceps slightly to his left. Not a big change but with lots of effect.
well, that's my two cents. Hope it somewhat helps.

Hahha, of course I wont limit myself to do only pencil work because of the stars.. I was just kinda dissapointed.

Wish I could put of the stars from my thread.. but I guess no one would like to look at this thread if i did...

    Hey dennis !
Good pencils. But it'd be cool to see more digis. The redish guy you posted earlier looks great. Show us some more.
The pencils could use longer strokes for the shading part.
Making small "breaks" the plane you're shaping. Or at least try to get it more smooth and homogeneic (?)

    hello Dennis
sorry for the argument, I think we both came off thinking the same thing about each other, and looked like hypocrits.
The thing that bothers me about your faces is the forms of the face, the structure, the basic 3d structure.

My best advice is to look in a mirror and study your face. A wise teacher told me this "with a change in form, comes a change in value", and your faces dont show a thorough understanding of the bumps and lumps of the face.
The second thing to do, is look at your features, and draw them a dozen times, till you can draw them without looking. DO ref studies. or other faces from life and study what makes them different(something i really should do as well), and figure out the the lengths and widths of features.

For the most part, they are in proportion, however, the features and form and lighting is simplified.
Again, self portraits are the magic juice that welds sucessful faces together, because more often than not, getting someone to sit for you to draw them is quite hard.

Dont care about the stars dude, dont even place your cursor over them. Remember, everyone is entitled to an opinion, and everyone has a different set of eyes to you.

    blah blah

Just stopping by, great improvements since my last visit again, you're really getting the hang of taking your time on stuff and refining it. Don't forget to do some loose gestural dudes to break away from them stiff poses you tend to do sometimes. Focus on balance, rhythm, and energy. -Helps with line confidence too. And of course, keep doing what you're doing, it's fun to see.

Those colors are so warm and full of energy, kinda reminds me slightly of
    luxun's colorjobs, really neat bro.

The Spaceship is awesome aswell, really getting the hang of sci-fi stuff! But
i hope its a WIP, cuz i'd love to see some more dynamic lightning and
perhaps more rendering on the piece, and maybe a cool background
    aswell?

The stuff is great! The guy be rockin I tell ya! Very good stuff, the colors fit nicely to the shooting guy, looks cool. Though I'm more impressed with them pencil show-offs a leap upwards in the page. Looks really great mister! Especially the head and the hand below it! Really good work. And one got to say it: Keep it up and post more.

Your colour study is going well, when I approach a painting I mix a lot of colours early on and try and establish a palette pretty early on, switching colours often within the same hue range, seems to help achieve more textures and levels on the piece. Another thing to remember is your shadows are nearly always the opposite temperature to the light source, which you’ve seem to have done well.

Your pencil sketches are good, but coming off a little flat, use longer strokes, make breaks only when you should need too. We also need more bodies in motion!

p.s. the wolfbane paintover looks great, you should paint over the lines too.
    Respect is the ultimate currency.
