    Great stuff Shawn,

I won´t have time and money to get over the Atlantic but all the pics remind me that I still have a voucher for my favourite tattoo studio

I wish you good luck with the exhibition!

Wow. Your work is really amazing. Its really beautiful. and its not just the rendering skills either. The John John Jesse one... you can feel his lungs filling up with air. That's really great. The way the subject of tattooing gets transformed, the tattos that stay in the skin, the ones that seem to hover above it, or move off the body... and the paint drips, like excess ink rolling down, or, quite frankly, like the bleeding that invariably accompanies tattooing. Really smart. The one of Grime is incredible too... so subtle... "here are my tattoos, but I'm such a character, I'M the tattoo...".There's a Lucian Freud quality to it as well..... and the still life of the artists tools... really nice counterpoint.

As far as nitpicky crit-talk, I'd say my least favorite theme is the repetition of arms....its a little... obvious... but its a small point, really. It doesn't hinder my enjoyment. It just seems like for the reasons cited above you have a genuine sensitivity to your subjects individually and on the whole, and the multiplication of arms is an easy solution anyone could have thought of... but seriously, thats super nitpicky on my part. On the whole the show is really gorgeous.

    Really.

Thanks for sharing. I'll bet your thrilled to have the show finally going up. Work like that really deserves every iota of attention it gets. Juxtapoz better do a cover story for this one! Hell, they better give you an Artforum cover!

I took one look and said, "that shit is badass"

I especially like the dripping paint in the portrait of Owen Smith.
