sorry for the departure - just trying to get into drawing organic/humaniod forms.... I can't remember the last time I drew a person, let alone a whole family with wings!!
30 minutes - black prima color, photoshop background
I hope to post again soon with a new sketch which more closely follows the topic....

Nice work everyone, especially Rob-ot - slightly off-topic but definately very cool.
Heres my attempt. I suppose they're actually bringing food to their babies rather than tending them, but its too late now.
I went for a Hugh Casson style pen over watercolour look to try and hide the rubbish pencil drawing underneath. One day I'll learn not to be so lazy.

When I was young, I could do all-nighters in my sleep.
The harpy roosts on a suicide tree, waiting for her younglings to hatch. Everyone's pieces look nice today. Xenos, your image really touched on the situation in my house today. Well I got my 30 minutes in today for drawing. Time to pacify the kids!

Izi bows before the superior intellect of Velocity and he has a pretty neat sketchbook
I thought of this other concept of leathery-winged people who ate bits of their young's wings because they were considered a delicacy, but I went searching for various types of wings, and one of the results was this awesome fish: http://www.snapnshoot.org/photopost/...nged_Fish1.jpg
I couldn't resist, I just had to do aquatic-winged people. Plus fish offspring hatch looking like miniature adults. So there.
3h30m in Photoshop. (bleh, I'm rusty!)
PS: male and female look basically the same to human eyes, except for the colors, brighter on males.

heres my entry, 2h20 in photoshop w/intuos 3(i'm out of practice with speedpainting)
...what better way to tend to children than delicious fish?
[EDIT] Updated rendetion with a newer piece, worked on this for another hour or two
Hi there,
This is actually my first post on conceptart.org. I've always thought the DSGs to be a great idea, and even better practice, so here's mine:
I think i spent a little over an hour with it. I couldn't quite decide what the mother's were bringing back... originally they were chickens--a lot of chickens. Anyways, fun topic.

I love everybodies sketches they are really nice!
Zietwolf, Goran, Johnnyhorse, and rWDrk - just awesome! pallet and compositions...
here is another attempt....i am not real happy with it.... more practice with this subject matter is in order!!
40minutes - black primsa color and quick photoshop color.
*a worried mother looks on as her mate cautiously makes his first attempt at sharing in the domestic responsibilities..... feeding of the young can be quite dangerous for this breed of winged creature - although small; the babies can be quite vicious because their still undeveloped eyesight makes it impossible for them to distingquish between food and fingers!

Hmm, i liked my sketch but when I try to render anything it turns to poop. Practice, practise.
