    Edwin's sketch pad

Hi everyone, I'm Edwin David aka dwinbotp here at CA and at most other sites I frequent. Mostly I'm just a lurker and an art afficionado and I try to participate in art contests rather randomly, but mostly a lurker LOL. Thought I'd share some of my mess, crits are welcome, i'm still a newbie and have so much to gain from peers since I'm self taught pretty much all these years. Enough babble, here's a few stuff...

nice stuff, very nice. I am lovin the anime. one crit about your super girl. her left boob/right side of screen is way to high up. I would suggest lowering it a bit. but love the detail.

syms thanks man for dropping by

spaztastic thanks for the crit, will get to it soon. Glad you liked the anime style

I recently found out about the competitions here at CA. These Chows have been most fun and I've been entering(or at least) try to enter each new one that comes along. Truly inspiring works from everyone, hope to do the same someday

CHOW146 Titiana, CHOW147 Baba Yaga and currently finishing up CHOW148, some private Investigator named E.G. Brownstone(whattaname!)

    Fantastic stuff.
Your inked work is awesome, and the fully rendered images look great.

You recent colours in the chows are excellent. The anatomy is very good already, just some minor issues (Titanias boobs for example). The b&w are also very nice, I especially like the second one. Nice pose on that one.
Wondergirl really seems low quality for you. It just doesn't work for me, colour and composition-wise. The lensflare is the biggest problem I guess. Paint a sun if you'd like it to be there, it would actually look pretty fierce, but don't rely on those techniques.

Thanks Janos for your input, much appreciated. The supergirl piece was done a few years back when I was struggling to use Photoshop hehe, actually I'm still struggling, started using Painter and stopped using PS, now I'm back on the PS since my Painter conked out an won't open these days. Oh, WTH, I do plan on redoing her, maybe a different pose but something similar

hahah love the last piece int he last post (Gotcha!!!) . Interesting works in overall. But in some of them the colors are kinda harsh and ruin the mood , or the mood that the painting wants to create.

zaorr, zweiDee,Grandmassa Mr. Spect Glad you loved the AVP, was so much fun to do,, much appreciated guys!
zeo-x I used to sneak looks at my sister's homework and lessons during college(she took up fine arts) and would take a crack at them at times. I envied her then but I'm quite happy with how my stuff turned out anyway. Always learning still though
Josef K.I'll try to update this book often, thanks for the words of encouragement, I need it!
UCT thanks, I'm making it a habit to try to enter the CHOWS every week. COW too! and it's confusing to see how other people vote, general consensus and all that but I think it's really good practice and I'm having fun along the way. Who knows? someday I may be lucky enough to win one, hahaha.

small update: my current Chow entry, an initial concept for the next COW and after seeing the GIJOE trailer, I felt like a sketch

    yay, snake eyes

youve got a real talet for keeping your characters and pieces away from static and boring. Really digging your style, and the light in the queens consort piece is very good. the way his coat wraps around to the back of his left leg makes for a bit of a weird transition though. My eye keeps drifting back to that part of it like something doesnt look qite right.

Much kudos on sharing your work, its inspirational

    Regards, Mimer.
