more please, its tough to juggle conceptual works with work that brings the bacon; but welhey Im there too..hang in there!
Hope to see more works soon!

Welcome sir !
You got some cool eye studies.
Be more patient with what you do, dont bother about time, concentrate on the result you want.
Anyway, good start, keep posting![]()
SSG #10: The Tenacious Ten
for some reason, the images i've linked off my own domain don't seem to be showing. i wonder if it's just me.
thanks.
i did this in december just before christmas, didn't have time to complete it.

Nice animation. Very cute.
Hey.
The second girl with the doll eyes shows me that you need to get back to working with the form. Your details of the eyes are there, but you need to put them in the right spots. If you're going to copy from another influence, try study how the artist positions the eyes rather than the eyes themselves...
i'm not sure which you're refering to as for some weird reasons, the pics from my own server aren't showing up for me, so i'll be editing them into links instead.
---
ok it seems like hotlinking was somehow activated on my server, i've disabled it now. other than the 1st picture which was based off a manga cover, the rest are all based on photos of real people. i'm still struggling to get my proportions and positions right. i'll do some facial studies this weekend and post them up.

heya!
crit about the ultraman sketch.
the neck shouldn't be showin so much from a "worm's perspective" and you could forshorten the torso as well, his pectorals look really really distended if its gonna follow that perspective.
hope it helps!

I guess you already know what to do, study anatomy, draw from life, etc. So just keep practicing!

the eyes study is very good making me wonder if those humans are even from your sketchbook (and they all look very different some really good and really bad).

i'll try to do more clean up, i like my work dirty though. love that raw feel.
look up the artist, tsutomu nihei. i love his style.

yeah, those series of pictures were done through the past year, i had my ups and downs, there were times when i didn't do a single sketch for an entire month, and times when i sketched all day long.
the full list is here if you interested.
Hi there!
Sorry i haven't visited your SB before, I have been insanely busy this week.
if you want to take the ultraman pictures further you could do some cleaning up the lines (as stated earlier)
The animation looks really nice, i think that something worth developing further.
About the pictures you posted earlier, some of them look ok, but some have anatomy issues you might want to look into. I know that it might not seem that important when drawing comics (or manga) but i think it helps the reader to believe in the characters more. Well here is my 2 cents, i'll give more in-depth comments when you post your newest works.
I hope i didn't sound too harsh, i think you have a good start here. The important thing is to draw daily if possible, and to draw thigs that you like and are intrested in, draw every interesting thing you see before you ( if you have a moleskine take it with you and draw the people in the bus, cafes, family member when they aren't looking and stuff like that.) It's as important to draw from life, as it is from reference and imagination.
Cheers
Antti
i'd recommend cleaning up your lineart some more, mechs always look cool with clean lines, and the bold colours arent really working they dont exactly add depth, you need light and shadow to add depth
good crits so far too, i think
keep working man!
wip of a wallpaper i'm working on.
these are generally the colors, i'll remove the lines and detail up the character a little either tonight or sometime this week.
just basically want to have a sky behind a character. maybe i should reduce the size of the character.
![]()
the composition is looking kinda empty at the moment...maybe you should crop more of the sky and keep it more at a landscape aspect..more horziontal...try and maybe balance out the figure with some clouds? i dunno much about composition.
howdy!
I think the character needs to get larger than smaller really. As of now its not working much as a focal point cuz the sky's stealing all the thunder![]()
just mah 2 cents, hope it helps!

yeah that's the point
i'll add some clouds later.
inspiriation from the macross plus dvd cover. but not a direct copy. i want to go for a soft, afternoon nap feel, which is why her eyes are closed. i think i need to make her more 'cute'.

this little boy was standing infront of me for like 10 seconds, so i drew him quick. details were made up from memory.
for the gesture thread.
break down of an animation from a fight scene. noted only the hits, inbetweens i made up myself.
character design for a short film i'm working on.
pose is drawn from memory, otherwise no referenced used. drew while waiting for a client at coffeebean.
no reference used. screwed up the feet, so i cut it off.

It's good to see all the nice gesture drawings. Sometimes though it also helps to make a rough outline of the skeleton (ribs and pelvis) to see where the muscles are positioned.
The armored guy in the middle picture is really cool too. I like how he came out.

yowzadefinitely see where you're coming from now.
Just some comparisons here: i think the macross dvd cover works because the slight fisheyed feel of the landscape pulls the view to the horizon, this forshortened plane lends contrast with the vertical flow lines of the character's pose.
adding clouds would definitely work so im all abuzz to see that![]()
the dynamics of her pose gotta help with the depth of the sky. im not too sure how you're going to work that out, cuz if it doesn't lend it self to some sort of juxtaposition its just going to be a plain object in the corner.
keep posted!![]()
on a side note, love the action stick figure sketches as well as the masked rider character sketches!
its great to see your progress! more more more!![]()

the bottom one looks pretty solid. id suggest if u screw something up, to redraw it, its a really good way to learn from your mistakes and to not repeat it again.
i would but it was draw with a pen :p
kool stuff. you need cleaner hatching and better line definition.
