Icon *MARCH 14th* Sean Donaldson's Book Of Sci-Fi Juicyness :D SQUISH!

    Hi Guys,

I was contemplating what i should draw next for my personnel sketchbook and had a brain overload of things that i need to commit to memmory.

''Commit to memmory? What the hell are you talking about!?''

Well i find it so much easier to rememmber how things look just from drawing them over and over again as im sure you understand, being a concept artist you need these skills at some point in your career. I mean sure if i was asked to draw a helicopter for instance i could do one off the top of my head, but if they wanted more details then the basic shape then i would be pretty stumped. So i hope to ultimately have a nice portfolio of all round images to show clients and more importantly use to rememmber what things look like!

I hope thats clear and understandable, sorry if my grammer isnt perfect. It isnt one of my strong points so im told.

So this is where you come in, all i ask is that you reply with a word so i can go off and draw my brains out, please have words such as objects, body parts, the whole body, trees, leaves etc. Words that are objects in general, not something like 'hope', 'fear' etc.

The first person to post a word will get my full attention. So please dont flood this thread with words if im trying to finish the first one. Wait untill im done and posted.

Im just dyeing to get drawing! So please hurry and TRAIN MY BRAIN!!!

    Thankyou.

    Red face Hand Study

Well heres my go at drawing hands!

Thanks MrBob for posting, hope there too your satisfication. Drawn on an A3 piece of paper with a 2B pencil only.

Most of these hands, fingers etc were from my own left hand. Some angles i had to get from good photos and Loomis books etc.

Bring on the next word people!!

    Wink Eye See Yooou!

Well, heres the eyes Morbid! Hope ya like!

I actually thought these were going to be easier then drawing hands...funny that. It just goes to show anything can surprise you. Just for some variety i felt like adding in some animal eyes along with human...i enjoyed drawing the animal eyes much more then human, probably because there different and a bit more interesting.

Oh yeah, sorry bout the smear down the middle, i had to scan in two halves so it left a funny mark. Try to ignore it please.

OK! Whats the next mystery word for today!!!

Hey good drawings man, keep it up. I think both the linear style and rendered style have a good look, working them both would be a good call. Maybe you could have people suggest style also?

SeanyD, this is a great idea!
Keep an eye for the proportions, on the hand studies, the hand that is on the far top-right corner with the fingers shaped like a scissor, the index finger looks about the same length as the middle finger, it should be a tad shorter.
Other than that small nit pick just to say keep that stuff in mind, you are doing great! These studies look cool and again, fantastic idea.

    Cheers

EDIT: If I may suggest just an idea, you could try to do each word study in a day or few days. I'm saying this because you might start to get more words faster than you draw each batch, so maybe if you state that there will be one word for one day, people could wait until the next day to suggest. Maybe in a day you have more time, you can take on more than one word. Again, just an idea, cheers again : )

    Thumbs up Wow

Wow, thankyou for all your kind words! I was surprised to see so many people commenting! Brought a smile to my face

    Broken Spirit :

Thankyou for your constructive critisism! I will have to change that finger you spotted soon enough! It only takes one bad drawing to let your whole portfolio down at the end of the day so thankyou a ton!

Also, i did write at the start to only post 1 word then wait untill i complete the next drawing. No worrys that you missed that.

Its been really busy for my this weekend with university work and all, i have an assignment to hand in for next week so i have to keep torsos on hold for a day or two. Hope thats understandable, i have to put my university as a top priority. Thanks again and see you in the next update very soon!

Sexy chicks. Everyone needs sexy chicks in their sketchbook.

(Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. The important thing is that you draw whatever, but keep drawing. )

    Smile Im back at last!

    hey guys and girls!

Well, thats my finished with university assignments for quite a while thank bloody god! So apologies for the delay in this Train my brainer! Please dont think its cause i was slacking, i was up to my ears in work i can tell ya!

Well, without further ado, heres the upper male and female body study, if you can call it a study, i think i need more time and different angles if im going to have a more in depth study then this, but at least it shows i try.

I wish i had more time in class to draw the skeleten they had in, so one view is all you get for now. Hope ya like them.

OK BRING ON THE NEXT WORD!!!

(Sorry to the guys that posted words after Kresh's Torso word, but the rules are the rules...you just have to be lucky and get here as soon as i post the next drawing THEN say the word )

Thanks for the comments so far!

Ok, im going to veer off the rules for this one then.

Ashes to Ashes : I will do your rockstar chick on half the page made up from memmory and maybe digitally coloured .

Ledd : And for you i will do some smart heads on the other page, not coloured.

This might take a few days so be patient please. Thanks!

    Wink Character Study

    hey guys and girls!

Sorry if it seemed like forever for this piece of work, ive been busy trying to sort out tickets for Animex (Computer graphic festival in England), but as you can see i have been doing the requests in my spare time as promised

I kind of bent the rules on this one in that i diddent do Intelligent looking character heads, i just couldent resist making them all look as ugly as hell haha! Hope you dont mind that too much. Ignore the robot skull thing in the middle, dont know what was going though my brain when i thought that up.

Its hard to see but the rock star woman has chains for hair and the bionic legs i think need more work so maybe a more mechanical study next time? *wink wink* Allthough tottaly up to you guys.

BRING ON THE NEXT WORD GUYS!!
