heres some reportage work from over the week, has been fun to work in a different style
I'm personally highly pleased that the 'today adam told me I was very pretty' quote has finally managed to reach the internet.
heres a few panoramics i took on my phone that i like!
Theyre part of my reportage project (my mum and sister sat on the train in the last one!)
oooeh, i really like the raportage stuff! maybe a bit more line variety to make at little bit more clear what its about, but please do that raportage more often!

ajvenema- thanks, will do
Today we were asked to go draw some characters from observation, so these were the people i saw out and about in Bristol.
I find im working in a totally different way when drawing peole from life, as i have to be quicker, some are quicker than others
loving this new style fran, good to see how you develop it.
Strange style. Most of your earlier peices could use a little tweaking to their concept, but the last picture here is very interesting.
Dan- Ta!
jdadragon- yeah your right, it was a really weird way for me to start drawing all of a sudden hehe, so some dont look quite right, i guess it was the time constraints of people moving!
Heres some quick reportage sketches from circomedia which is like a circus school for students based in this old converted church. Also a page of faces which was a task to draw our classmates in under 2 minutes each moving round the room like speed dating, some are really awful. Also some museum sketches, and i made the sketch from further up of the laptop man into a little model! I used this Airdry stuff which was pretty bad so couldnt get a smooth texture and its a bit crumbly
Some are really quickly stitched (and badly) together as they were on 2 a4 pages
nice animal sketches, and the faces look great for 2 min drawings.

I really like your approach to drawing figures in your illustrations, very appealing. And the fact your willing to use a mix-media in your illustrations.

Hey Lefran, I haven't visited your SB in a while. I must say I am very impressed with the amount of work you are producing. I love the quality of line you use in your sketches - it has such character. The sketches from Bristol are fantastic.

On a lighter note your rendering is becoming a little too splendid these days Franwise, bravo.

Amazing sketches!
Ah. Another Joao Ruas fan. I could sense it a mile off (but not just because of your avatar). I think your drawing style definitely reflects his influence. Especially pieces like this http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1240744337 Looking forward to seeing more![]()
some bangin work, yeah discovering the side of a pencil can really change the way u draw- i love it. remember the same can be applied to charcoal life drawings, charcoal pens, etc
im well looking forward to this whole reportage thing....its right up my alley. and using a variety of media in ur sb is very healthy, something i dont do at all enough of. id love to fault you, but you arent doing anything rly 'wrong' ...u r obviously going for a more illustrative style and the more naive drawings could be chalked down to style...just keep updating.
Thanks guys
Sean- yeah i can tell youd totally like these kind of projects! oh man i hate charcoal so much i cant even touch it, it makes me feel sick!
I love the Lefran animal studies! Thanks for sharing them. I cannot touch charcoal either, it's texture produces a feeling within me that is akin to nails on the chalk board. However, when I was six years old I had the bright idea that if I scratched a chalk board long enough, I would become immune to it's effect and then I could torture my enemies with nails and a chalk board. It only took three hours, but I have been immune ever since.
Charcoal still gets me, go figure. Cheers
mmmh very good work on animal studies and in particolar head studies, i like your lines very fresh and instinctive, i hope to see more, ah very nice maquette![]()
I lurv charcoal, and I lurv the owl!
