    quick face demo

    kind people of CA,

i made this demo for a friend here in the CA forums, who wanted to see how i draw and paint in PS.
my problem now is, how do i show it here?
the file was made with CAMTASIA screen recorder,
and it`s 40 something minutes long.
    it`s in .SWF format.
    it`s 230 MB in size.
any suggestions/solution/advise would be highly appreciated.

nice face. yours is nice too, mate.. i see youve been in the wars yet again

edit: youll need to compress it, obviously. sacrifice on the quality, its more for the way in which you paint, not the quality of the images. try and shrink it, and be sure to speed it up so we dont have to sit thru however long it took you real time (some of us are lazy)

if I remember correctly, there aren't many compression options for swfs in Camtasia. Try bringing it into Flash and re-publishing it. Breaking it into installments should help.

stoph - thanks. my face in the avatar is actually because of a little fight i had with a guy, and a friend just took a picture. stupid, i know.
glikster - i tried that, but Flash just freezed and killed the computer.
ho well....i guess i`ll just pass on the whole "showing you people how i work" thing...
    sorry.

that sucks.... I would have loved to see it.

I found this on the tech forums at Camtasia:

"You should instead choose to produce as FLV, use the Macromedia Flash Mx 2004 video import tool, or produce as WMV from Camtasia Studio."

    and

"Camtasia SWF compression is highly optimized for compressing videos of “office” type content such as desktop applications that contain large areas of the same color. Making training videos of applications such as Microsoft Word is one example.

While 100% perfectly lossless, Camtasia SWF compression does not compress real world video well at all, such as video from a video camera, real world photography, dithered or gradient surfaces. When using Camtasia SWF, if your video must contain these elements, you may wish to experiment with other video file formats such as WMV for the final output.

Additionally, as defined by Macromedia, SWF files are limited to 16,000 frames. If your video exceeds this, lowering the frame rate, making smaller videos or breaking the movie into smaller parts is the workaround."

    Chuck,
I'd be happy to host that file for you, if you can get it to ~70 megs. My bandwidth limit is 10GB per day, so I think it'd be ok. Shoot me a PM if ya want.

You could upload it to YouSendIt.com, they allow you to upload up to 1GB. I use YouSendIt all the time to trade music. Here is the link:

    maybe not

this may not be much help at this stage of the game.
but i am always amazed how small event files in open canvas are.
i wish someone would add that kind of stroke capturing feature to
    a less limiting painting app.

    speaking of open canvas. http://www.warpaint.se/
is something i think everybody on this site should be playing with regularly.

There is no way to make the file smaller?
    Otherwise you could use www.youtube.com
    And how about an ftp-server?
