Rebecca, incredible sketch book, it's obvious why you're an anatomy prof. over on CGtalkDave Ehlert has done nothing but praise you. If you have a moment, I would pay $'s to hear any advice you have for me if you get a chance. Once again, thanks for posting all of this stuff. Your quick studies are an inspiration

Open Figure Drawing Workshop - William Bouguereau Master Copy - with Rebeccak 012
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=312150
Anyone is welcome to join in! We're doing a Master Copy of a beautiful William Bouguereau painting. We've just opened the Workshop late last night, and the Workshop will run for 3~4 weeks. Anyone may join at any time!
Heh...
I've just received notice that the correct title in French should be:
"Dante et virgile aux enfers" ~ I'm sorry!!!

WHAT ? "Dante et Virgile au enfers" ? Insanity, I said ! You should correct that quickly ! It's "Dante et virgile aux enfers" !!! an "x" after "au" because "enfers" is plural ! You allready break my heart with your wonderfull artistic skills, don't hurt me more with that kind of mistakes (a tiny one, I admit it !)
My only regret is that I can't go to that workshop, snif ! snif !
Cheers, Rebecca !

Im already there- gonna be a nice challenge. A question - why do a lot of artists avoid drawing the penis? I can never figure this out .....
Alday.J,
Ooh, I'm so sorry! I got the name / spelling straight off of artrenewal.org...Really sorry for that!

EDIT: Heya, fooxoo, just saw your post! Really glad you could join us...regarding your question...well, I think due to natural embarrassment, I suppose.I notice that neither guys nor girls are particularly fond of drawing this area...though both sexes seem to have no problems with breasts aka breastessesses.
BTW, the Workshop is online, there's no 'going' to it except by clicking on the link!(The Open Figure Drawing Workshops are free as opposed to my CGWorkshop, which is paid).
Cheers,
~Rebeccak

Heya !
I quickly check several websites here and there and I found the same mistake, and one... with a different title ! Hum... I really don't know, now... LOL ! But the biography of Bouguereau himself is quite confuse (we don't know if his name is William or Alphonse...). Anyway, he's known as William Bouguereau and for the title: in correct French it's really what I told you. Just a precision, but I wanna be sure myself !
Cheers, Rebacca !
From France with love.

The bull, or the cow (whatever it may be) from yesterday looks great. In its unfinished state, it looks as though it is emerging from a mist or fog.
Alday.J,
Hehe, I guess the spelling's still a mystery then?![]()

Another update...continuing to work on the face, tried to organize the lighting a bit better and tone down the bottom part of the image ~ am noticing that focusing my rendering efforts on the face means that I need not spend as much time on the body, as the faces are the focal points anyway, and draw the viewer's attention there...
Cheers,

Awesome study, am realy curious on how you'll aplly scintones on this one.
And why did this get rated only 4stars?
Deserves 5 for sure
blacky,
Thanks very much!
With respect to applying skintones / color generally, I've learned on my own and from Stahlberg's excellent painting tutorial to apply color in Photoshop on a separate layer with the Blending Mode set to "Color".
Stahlberg's Painting Tutorial
http://www.androidblues.com/Jealousy...lousystep.html
One of the first paintings I used this method on is the one featured in this CGSociety Article, here:
Drawing Lessons: Opposing Curves - by Rebecca Kimmel

The step~by~step tutorial I created for the painting featured in the article can be found here:

For anyone interested in joining in on the current Open Figure Drawing Workshop for which I am doing this piece, please feel free to join in ~ this OFDW lasts another 3~4 weeks, so there is still plenty of time for anyone to join.

Yay! An update... The left leg on guy standing still looks a bit to long. Keep pushing it rebecca!
Glad to see you back to 5 <> this last one is an improvement <> the shadows on the background were distracting <> the cast shadows could probably be softened a little <> these seem to reproduce more harshing than they appear in the originals <> guess I am going to have to dust or my wacom and come out o digital retirement.
Anyhow major improvement between last 2 post <> up you go.
yey!
an update for my Rebecca file!![]()
always happy to see your work! I'm sorry for not posting to OFDW11, but i had a lot on my head..
hope i'll get to catch up!!![]()
cheers and best luck!
Icey
seth1,
Thanks! I agree with you about the leg...tried to fix it a little (still a long way to go!)
Michael,
Thank you! Yep, there is lots of work to be done for sure...thanks for dropping by! Appreciate the C&C ~ hmm, bringing you out of Digital Retirement aye? Quite a feat!
Icey,
Thanks! It's nice of you to drop by, and it's always great to see you on the Anatomy Forum!
~
A small update from me...trying to tidy the background a bit, and adding a bit of color as a test / undertone...
This may be just about as far as I get on this one, due to the CGWorkshop starting up on Feb. 10th, which will be consuming most of my time.
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
