    Arab people

Ok, the fact is that I draw arabs, or at least what I think reminds me of arabs, very often. Especially Medieval Arabian clothes and scimitars etc is really inspiering to me. Not to mention turbans! Ahem! So now I thought it was time I made a separate sketchbook for those arabs.
Don't expect top quality yet, it's often just sketches and speedpaints, and I have yet to learn so much in art. :|

Headcloth is tied too tight. Painted this one as a practice with shadow and light, and the colours in them.

One more. A speedpaint. I used a few photos to see what a camel looks like, but obviously animals are not my strong theme...

but u can work more on this..like his nose and lips r looking nice..but his eye looks too harsh..because of contrast..and chk out the Ear shape construction too.
btw r u doing studies for Arab's facial features as well?

Thanks for the helpful comment, Shyam. No, I haven't studied Arab features of face yet... How could I forget? I must make sure to do that. Thanks a lot!

Alright, two more. They are quick ones, made last night. I focused mainly on the colours.

    lovely arabs, jane.
The colours are warm and intence. But maybe try and work a bit on the facial features, eyes and mouth, etc..
now post more, I wanna see some good progress!

    It is an arab. Again.
Painted quite carelessely, and now it looks like he isn't standning very balanced. You could call this an overworked speedpaint. Or a speedy painting.
I used a picture of an African man as reference for the anatomy, though there still are flaws. I have much to learn.

And one drawn with pen, which was originally blue. I think the turban might be too large.

Nice, I really dig the last one. Do you only draw men or women as well? Show me.

Thank you, jtheanswer. I admit I mostly draw men. I find them the most fun to draw, and I guess I'm in "that age". Either way, I really should draw more women. I know each time I do that I am far behind in that field...

Thank you sabe2003. Actually, I was thinking of working more with the 'leaning' arab, after some scolding from Shyamshriram, but I am falling on the lazy side again. We will see what happens.
By the way the last one is drawn with blue pen.

As an arab, I appreciate your exploration of the dress. However, keep in mind that arabs don't always wear turbans

I myself am trying to get more into my roots, as I aspire to create some sort of fanstasy story based on Arabic/Islamic culture, mythology, and art. If you like arabs a lot, you should definitely check out the calligraphy and architecture produced. A simple Google search, and you'll find a wealth of beautiful imagery. hopefully that'll inspire you.

Try drawing women, too! You said you're not as good at drawing them, right? All the more reason to try drawing them! Plus, Arab women are just as interesting (and attractive) as the men! Exploring the traditional dress of the women would also challenge you to draw folds and robes, which women used to cover themselves. Veils should be fun too.

If you REALLY wanted to have something to gnaw Arabic wise, try finding the Sir Richard Burton's translation of the Arabian Nights. They're incredibly dense, but they should provide some interesting things to illustrate, if you're up to the challenge!

    hope that helps

additionally, you should try some more action stuff, or full body illos. You should also try exploring the landscape in which they live in.

Theshunzun: Thank you so much! This is really valuable feedback for me! I will indeed take what you said into concideration, and I will lean on google for further help.
As for the turbans... I do know arabs don't always wear them, but the turbans are the thing that is most fun to draw! lol I am hopeless. Don't expect to see many of them here without...

    Ok, a tiny update:
