Thanks afgal! All my stuff from books is from "Figure Drawing for All It's worth" or "Cyclopedia Anatomicae".

This will probably be my last post for 5 or so days because I'll be in Chicago. My CA friendly button will be prominently displayed.

1-Drawing on a bike, even stationary, is impossible.
    2- Crazy art class assignment.
3- part of a glove from life that was too big to scan.

Think about planes and edges. A lot of your sketches are flat. With the figure drawing on the bottum of page 2, the arms and legs arent reading as cylinders. Same issues are happening in your portraits. Head Drawing by Andrew Loomis will help you greatly. Keep on sketchin'

Studies are good. Yeah, planes can be hard to do sometimes, but you gotta do it.. Also remember proportions.Sit back and look at your picture, see what seems to be wrong (cause there'll always be something wrong, I tells ya! ), and if you're surte of what it is, correct it. This is of course pretty obious, but it really helps to actually do it.

    I'm Not Dead Yet!

Back from the windy city! Man, alot of crap happened that's not important enough to post here. Maybe I'll check out that blog feature in my profile.... Anyway, got a few life drawings done, but not much. Glad to be home!

    afgal- Thanks!

Smitherines- Thanks! As for the legs, do you think it might be the constant, heavy outline despite changes in light? I have to work on that.

Serpian- ThankS! Obvious, yes, but also easy to forget. Thanks for the reminder!

    1-2- Life
3- SP (got smudged on trip back)
4-5- Quick ideas for the cover of my next SB. (The glasses suck 'cause, well, I wasn't wearing glasses.)

*Photobucket is officially shit. I'm switching. Testing different hosts.

Hey there. You've got some nice drawings here. Just my little bit:

Get the shape right. Once youre comfortable with the line and the shape of the object, think about the light as in: where the light is shining from, and how intense the light is.

Form there, you can start adding the tone and the value to your object. What i keep seeing nowadays is implementation of shadow and light in places which do not make sense, which as a result, makes the object look unrealistic. See which part the light is shining the most on, and parts where there is no light at all.

    Keep it up!!!

    Now with nudity!

Thanks amer-nazri! Light, planes, value I know. People have been telling me this so much recently that you'd think I'd listen, so today I did! I actually did a serious figure study. I chose a picture with a little foreshortening because I need the practice, and I set up the anatomy and the planes.

The ref was a Stefan Soll picture, which you can see HERE.

In order of me doing them:
1-Outline. (I think I have some anatomy set-up shots if it would help you crit me.)
2-PS sketch. (I don't know why I did this BEFORE the pencil values.)
    3- Starting the pencil values.
4- Done for now. By now, Iv'e sort of given up on the head. I've also obviously been screwwing around with the legs.

I'm also pretty sure I screwed up the breasts.

The ps version of the girl is pretty cool! Also good values in the pencil versions, but remember proportions! (hint: the head!). Good hands, good sp. Aw, I should make some of those too.. Damn lazyness...

some good studying going on here....i'd recommend you to try shift your perspective a bit, tho...try not to think of the things you are drawing in terms of outline, but mass.

    keep up the good work

Thanks squidmonk3j! Definately something I should keep in mind more often.

I haven't done much of anything in charcoal yet, so I decided to do some bananas to loosen up. (stolen from That fat kid)

Vine charcoal, ranging from 10 seconds to about 5 min.

Weird, you updated at the same time as me - down to the minute.

Anyway, the dedication is really standing out. Life drawings of bottles and wineglasses are tedious at best, but you're staying tough. That's good. Maybe try to draw the actual circles that make up the glasses as they go up, to help keep it in perspective. That probably makes no sense, so I can draw an example if you'd like.

Faces are looking good; you're progressing quite nicely. Little crit for the hair though: Stroke single lines with the pencil to make hair look nice, scribbling the pencil back and forth makes it look odd and hastily rendered.

Beyond that, things are looking great, and your progress since page 1 is quite inspirational. Keep it up!
