"A Game of Thrones" card art (harsh crits welcomed!)

I have very mixed emotions about these. All of this (subject matter, point of view, and a million other things) is new territory for me, so in that respect these paintings were a success. BUT, looking at them now, I can see a million things I'd do differently, or wouldn't do at all. Anyway, I'd like to hear what you have to say about them, so rip them apart if you'd like. I encourage it.

You know what they say, the artist is the worst critic. Honestly I like them. Good perspective and detail. I wouldn't mind having something like the castle in my room

In the first one, the orange light in the building looks like it might be nuclear bright? and in the last pic, the bodies under the ice seem to be way too large for the bridge of the castle.

But these seem really nick pic for card art especially... they are professional and i love the blurred snow in the first pic.

    hey mike!
i think that they're lookin pretty nice... there's something bugging me about the first one, I think it's the fact that you've got the characters in the foreground reaching almost the full value scale... at night, they would be in the lower end of the value spectrum, with the lightest light being towards the middle of the spectrum... right now they've got the same amount of range as the buildings, I think they might work better if they were more sillhouetted, to separate them from the environment. Nothin major, and I might be off base, but that's my 2 cents. The stuff looks good, though. Congrats on the work you've been getting lately!

    Ha ha, thanx evening kiss.

Bowlin - You're totally right, and the worst part is, I knew that when I sent it out. But since these are being reproduced at like 1.5x2 inches, you kinda gotta be blattently obvious about things. Ha ha, and I'm glad you like the snow.

Thanx Cody, it's been a good learning experience getting so much stuff from FFG. You're right about the value scale thing. In the original version, it was soooo much brighter and this is the toned down version. Now that I look at it though, it could easily be toned down more. Hope everything's goin well your end man!

I'm still totally open to more crit if anyone's willing. Fire away!

    Mike-
These look great. I agree with the comments about the pinkish light and scale of the bodies. Only things I can say is that in the second one, the two main pillars don't share the same vanishing point. In the third, I think you need more contrast on top of the castle to add depth.Right now theres no difference in value or saturation between foreground and background, making it look flat.

The artist is his own worse critic, but I would be hard pressed to find problems with these.
I always dislike drawing views (back of heads) like the first painting because it doesn't come off as interesting, but the characters are all rendered well and the colors convey a great mood so no problems for sure.

Thanx jim, I see what you're saying. The vanishing point thing I think is some kind of weird fluke. Reau pointed that out as well, but the vanishing points are all the same. I can't say why it looks weird, I wish I knew.

Thanx a lot Kurt, I'm glad you like them!
