I enjoy the textures you get with brushes very much. And that green landscape is quite lovely, I adore the trees.
I'm going to get back to painting now.
Awesome environments you've started. It makes me want to get off my ass and start working on some of of my own.

keep it up
it's sunday ! stuck at work, did these between 2 bugs fixing =P
practicing hue blending on the skin and specular on glossy surfaces.
i dont really like the girl drawing tho... she came out with a BS pose and again i did not spend time on the construction so hands and spot i didnt draw often are messy...
c&c welcome

i really love this one. however i am yet to see someone add color in a way that doesn't look like it was just washed over, using that technique. a very strong composition. and i hope you do it justice.![]()
Very cool stuff in here! Enjoyed looking through.
Great Work WhiteC, your environments are awesome man. Keep it up
good last post.
Anyway I usually paint with 100% opacity and then connect my brush to opacity jitter, through pen pressure. And then I'll usually change my flow depending on the pressure I want to play with - from 1% flow to 100%.
This are not set in stone, and I sometimes play with 100% opacity, flow jitter to pressure, or just random jitter, or no opacity/flow jitter at all (but these are rare, as I rather have them connected and some dual brush action going for hard brushes).
Anyway my tip to you is that you download some brushes, try to get them from who ever, where ever - for example I can upload you mine if you wish ~ and start experimenting yourself. In the end selecting one brush in photoshop is like limiting yourself to one tool, trying to master that. It might be worth it, but I'm pretty sure it isn't![]()
So try your idea for awhile, throw in some changes, try that for awhile, get some inspiration from others, try that for awhile, start over etc etc ad inifitum.

happy monday !
thanks for the good comments guy ! i appreciate it !
but if you got things that bugs you about my art, please tell it to me, I dont want to miss anything i could improve. My vacation starts tomorrow so be ready for massive updates everyday
fish: glad you like it ! please come back anytime hehe
haven: thanks ^^
Dan: thanks for answering me mate, the piece below was done entierly with a 50% opacity and size on pressure, i tried to play with the flow as you suggested, works pretty well too, now i must stop limiting myself to the round brush.
Slav: Yo dude, too bad i wont color it hehehe the movie is black and white ( sorta Sin city look ), but you remind me that i should try out coloring some uncolored pieces. Usually i start with a multiply layer with a bluish color to set up the ambient light and sometimes use the grayscale drawing as a mask for that ambient layer, and just invert the mask and use it on another layer set as overlayt or hardlight for the main light source, and then its just good old painting.
so here's more tentacle fun

thanks for comments fellas!
morning update
good stuff, though the chroma is burning, and I'm not sure it was a good idea![]()
SB. p31 updated 25.04.2012.
must agree w dan, i loved the greens but the burning chroma..keep it up loving the creatures
hey guys, thanks for all the feedback. I completly agree, i got a bit lost in the process with this one.. I got to limit myself to particular colors and not break too much laws with the way i use them.I think i tried too much to blend the sun / gras color to the character.. and again, did not spend any time on a solid line drawing before ''rendering''. Just bought myself some cool new mechanic pencil so i will try to start my next drawings with scanned lines.

good progress here! that last one is sweet! it would be nice to see you try to get a bit more texture into these though!
keep it up man!
hey guys, watched Texas Chainsaw MAssacre last night, woke up with that in my head =P
some black and white photoshop sketching
did a coupe of Loomis study on paper, ill try to scan them when i have time..
I have issues when i start a drawing.. dont know where to start, usually start with the head but i always end up with the same fookin face in the same angle. For the moment i stick with a stick figure but still, it looks dirty at the end.. too many lines. Any tips guys when it comes to figure drawing from imagination ? Like I asked Archipelago, most artist here seem to start off with the contour and shade in but when i do that i tend to end up with a weird pose or weight problems... maybe it will come with time. I never did serious life drawing either so maybe thats where i get stuck.
does that chainsaw even leave a head to collect?![]()
good stuff, especially the first & keep it up.
SB. p31 updated 25.04.2012.
dan: hehehe dont know heard that chainsaw makes pretty clean cutsthanks for coming back to my SB btw , always cool to get comments.
finnaly managed to make my old scanner work with windows XP, come on Agfa you lazy bastards, make it more simple.
Here's some stuff i did in the last days... trying to get back to pencil..
I think stuff is starting to unlock in my head, but i need to go over a lot of studies and exercice, my anatomy is weak and my lines are not confident enough.. I read loomis books 1 year ago but i will go over it again.
So here's some legs ''studies'' from Loomis book, i think i will simply stick to reproducing the drawings in the book for now and try to fix in my head all the bones and muscles perfectly. I also did one of my first portrait from life '' or should i say from a photo '' i tried to catch the main lines as fast as i could.
And finnaly some spray paint and gouache test i did in my sketchbook.
Hope you like ,even if its beginner stuff,.. Im getting a bit sick of environements , so mastering figures from life and imagination is what i hope to master in the years to come.. and hope to switch from 3d to 2d one day T_T
Crits more than welcome as usual.
Wow, I hadn't noticed your SB until you commented in mine. But I'm sorry I missed it. This is now one of my favorite SB's.
Creatures, technology, pencils, photoshop. It's all there man. No critiques from me, just admiration.
great update WhiteCmy fav is the last one, its interesting how u work it out, textures and colours good job. keep sharing
jymster: really glad you like... but yes i tried a lot of different approach but never really focused on anything and it shows, I hope to improve m ycharacters and creatures for the moment. Thanks for the kind words, ill try to not deceive you hee hee.
callops: you will see more of this cauz i like too
K, so a really lame update for today... wasnt in the mood to draw but I still went over some loomis pages, here's some armes and misc stick figures from imagination.
Im also trying out different type of pencils, most of my stuff so far was done with a mechanical F pencil, but I think it's not the best tool for me.. I started to do some sketches with very light lines, but its really hard to keep it light with this pencil so I think i will start using something like a 3H or 4H for my initial sketch and switch to the mechanical pencil for the rendering and details.. we will see how it works. I'd be curious to know what you guys think about the different type of pencil. What do you use , why do you use it ?
I'd like to be able to do a full sketch with the same dark pencil but im not sure if im ready for that, if i want to go light with the mechanical F pencil, my lines tend to be a bit shaky since i got to watch my pressure.
awww but drawing is so fun, have a nice day guys
Great job here. Anatomical study will pay off!

haha i hope so ,because i really want to see more !
nice studies, keep it up
this one http://conceptart.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1173717633 is awesome!
as for the pencil question, just use whatever works for you, it really dosnt matter aslong as it works, in the end its just a stick with some kind of graphite on the bottom.
