Ouch. Best of luck man. I sure hope this animation thing is what you want though...maybe your professional attitude is suffering because you can't find the passion?

good luck with Ringling, you certainly have the skills to be accepted. I do have to say that you sure have the patience to render an entire environment with pencil, I barely have the patience to finish rendering the head in a single figure sketch.
You've got some wicked anatomy going on in a lot of your work. I'm glad I happened along this thread. Keep up the great work!

Although you wrote that you want to change your working filed, do you have any links to your animated stuff? I´d be really interested in seing what you can do with moving pictures![]()

SOO, I had a lot of time where I needed to go live my life outside of art. Unfortunately, life outside of art is rough and far too serious. I left Ringling back in January when I last posted, I think that's what screwed me up so badly. I'd like to start drawing again, kind of feel my way back into it. Also, my friend here on CA Mike Dagata (Helzon) passed away a few weeks ago (rest in peace man), and it REALLY got me thinking about a lot of things. So I decided I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and start drawing again. Here's what I've done in the past couple weeks, sorry for the quality, it'll take some time to get back into the "swing" of things. Hopefully I can be part of this site again!!!! OPTIMISM!!!

Welcome back. I really identify with what you're saying about your state of mind and your commitment to art.
I went through a lot of the same things when I graduated from college with a degree in graphic design and no real art skills or prospects...I went through about a year and a half of being generally depressed and aimless, no sense of urgency.
Going to Insomnia in '06, and especially hearing the talk given by NCSoft's...I think creative director, about the nature of the modern conceptart industry, gave me a real feeling of 'I can do this'. The last two years or so have been the real beginning of my serious pursuit of art, which is pretty late in life, but I really can't see going any other way.
My grandfather's death last year, while my career was still stagnant and without any positive signs, galvanized me into being bolder, less risk-averse, and being truly committed, realizing the futility of doubt, of reservations.
I really feel that once we've made the commitment to art, no matter how much we regret lost time and lost opportunities, we have to feel joy at having made the only step of the journey that really matters: the decision to never look back and to be relentless in self-improvement. The future starts today!
